Indian Wedding In Marbella…

Like most Sunshine Wedding Spain weddings, the sky was blue and the sun was shining as Sonia and Yusef’s guests were coached up the mountain to their Marbella Indian Wedding. In Part One we learned all about the couple’s wonderful Indian and Turkish heritage and discovered how they celebrated the day before their wedding with a big Spanish style party in our Estepona luxury villa – complete with paella, flamenco dancing and guitar music.

But for the big day they had something completely different in store for their friends and family. As the guests pulled up at the Eastern-inspired boutique hotel they were blown away by the luscious gardens and beautiful Buddhas displayed around the grounds. And at the entrance of the hotel was a large white and turquoise ceremonial Mandap set up where the blessing was to take place.

Sonia looked resplendent in her maroon and gold sari, complete with beautiful gold jewellery and lots of bangles. Her bridesmaids were also dressed in matching turquoise saris which tied in wonderfully with the flowers and decorations. As expert wedding planners there are not many obstacles that we can’t manage at any of our weddings, although our scheduling was somewhat put to the test when, as part of Indian custom, the groom struggled to find his shoes that were hidden by the male guests and the ceremony was held up for nearly an hour while he ran around the hotel looking for them! But it was all part of the fun and games and the beautiful ceremony was worth the wait.

Guests enjoyed live jazz vocals ‘and drinks in the sunshine admiring the mountain views while the couple had their photos taken by our award-winning photographer Jeremy Standley. Inside the hotel guests were treated to a sumptuous wedding menu, from top Marbella caterers, of Lobster or Chicken starter, Sea Bass or Iberian Pork mains followed by a trio of desserts – chocolate mousse, lemon tart and raspberry and berry cheesecake.

Sonia and Yusef changed their attire in time for the evening’s celebrations, and in another section of the hotel the couple cut their rustic ‘naked’ wedding cake, had a really moving first dance and hit the dance floor to complete their magical two days of celebrations. As guests jumped around to uptown funk and Bollywood hits played liver by singer and dj Kmiss, we marvelled at how much fun it had been to combine an Eastern-inspired venue with Spanish flair and an Asian twist for this Indian Marbella wedding to remember. What an unforgettable two days it was!
