Typical Spanish Wedding Venue In The Mountains
It’s not very often, when searching for a rustic Spanish wedding venue, that you find something that offers everything you are looking for. Yet nestled in the Andalucian hills, just an hour away from Estepona, is a charming boutique hotel that will make any wedding in Spain an unforgettable experience.
We spoke to a former bride and asked her what she thought when we first showed her this magical finca.
“I chose to get married in Spain because I wanted my wedding day to be outdoors, natural and unforgettable. Getting married in Andalucia meant I would be guaranteed the weather, and with Sunshine Weddings Spain I knew straight away it would be impeccably organized, but I was nervous about finding the perfect venue. I really didn’t want a beach wedding, I wanted something more spectacular and rural than that. In my mind I imagined walking down the aisle of a tiny Spanish chapel, I wanted to have my photos taken walking through a white washed village with all my family walking behind me…just like you see at Spanish and Italian weddings. My venue had to have an old fashioned Spanish terrace to dine on, looking out on stunning views and although I needed the services of a hotel I didn’t want it to look or feel like a big busy hotel. Basically I gave Scott the impossible brief, and he more than met it. In fact he blew us away!
My husband and I were driven by Scott to the venue, and as soon as we started to climb the mountains I knew that our magical mystery ride was going to end with a pot of gold. The winding roads fell down to a spectacular vista of rolling green hills and the sea in the distance. We passed fields full of goats and cattle, and climbed higher and higher until we saw in the distance a white-washed village with a church perched on the edge of a rock. Scott explained that there was both a tiny chapel at the top of the hill and a larger church in the village, where we could marry, but that the venue also had a beautiful lawn with a large tree where couple could have their ceremony. We hadn’t even arrived at the venue and we were already spoiled for choice.
As we entered the arches of the finca we gasped and I couldn’t stay in my seat with the excitement of it because it was just what we were looking for. The hotel rooms were laid out like small Spanish houses, and when we got to see inside they were decorated in the local style with antique furnishings and an upstairs and downstairs per guest. There was also a pebbled ‘terraza’ with a fountain in the centre, where we imagined our guests dining as the sun set, fairy lights twinkling in the trees around us and a cool mountain breeze blowing. The view was nothing but trees and fields around us with the sea twinkling in the distance, it was so peaceful and quiet, we felt like we had the mountains to ourselves.
The swimming pool was a bonus we weren’t expecting (little did we know that on the day itself all the kids would be in there playing) and as we sat down to try the food we knew we had found our perfect Spanish mountain wedding venue. We ate locally produced food and tried wines from the neighbouring villages, each dish was Spain on a plate and the owners spoke both English and Spanish fluently.
We said yes on the spot, and as we worked our way down the winding mountain roads back to the coast we knew we had made the best choice working with Sunshine Weddings Spain. We would never have found this hidden gem in the mountains. It had everything we wanted and more – and needless to say, the following year, our wedding in the mountains was completely unforgettable and romantically rustic and Spanish in every way.”
No one tells it better than our wedding couples. We love working with this venue and every wedding there is unique and magical. Is this the mountain retreat you have been looking for?
