There are many other options for accommodation including;

Villas and apartments; please do check if car hire is advised and the distance from the wedding venue as the area of Estepona can be quite far reaching with some more remote areas. A good site for exploring the villa options is www.holidaylettings.co.uk and www.ownersdirect.co.uk.

There are also properties to rent via www.airbnb.co.uk – this website lists rooms and entire properties to rent via the owner.

Then there are the usual sites below which offer good choices and rates:

How do we get there?

Flights

Malaga is the closest airport. There are several airlines that depart from all UK airports. From Manchester the main airlines are Monarch, Easy Jet, Jet2 and Ryan Air. Once you arrive at the airport you can chose which way you travel to Estepona from the options below.

Local Bus

We used this option when we first came to view the venue. The ticket office is facing the main exit door of the airport, they will let you know which stand your coach leaves from and all stands are close to the ticket office. A quick hint is to sit on the driver’s side of the bus on your journey as you will get a better view of the coastline as you travel into Estepona. Some buses are direct but most will stop off in Marbella. The cost for our tickets was approximately €8.

Car Hire

A very reasonably priced and reliable car hire company, who will meet you at Malaga airport and escort you to your hire car so you avoid queuing!

Taxis

Taxis are plentiful at the airport. Cost is approximately €90 from the airport to Estepona, but it is advisable to check with the driver prior to starting the journey. All licensed taxis are white and very clearly marked.

What is the area like and what is there to do?

Estepona is near the Sierra Bermeja Mountains on the Costa del Sol and has an average of 325 days of sunshine a year, good weather is virtually guaranteed, and the resort is a little quieter than some other resort towns in Malaga such as Marbella. The town has retained some more traditionally Spanish areas and has many excellent tapas restaurants.

There are a lot of things to do in Estepona;

1)beaches, including two Blue Flag beaches; then there’s the small cove of Playa Del Cristo to the West of the town, and the long sandy La Rada Beach to the East of Estepona marina.

2) In addition to sunbathing, Estepona provides opportunities for golf, with at least five golf courses in the local area.

3) You can also take the family on day trips to attractions such as: Selwo Safari Park, with over 2,000 animals that live in semi-wild conditions.

4) Keen shoppers will love the El Corte Ingles department store at Puerto Banús, 30 minutes’ drive away from Estepona Port with a large number of designer outlets.

5) There’s certainly something for every taste in the area. The last time we visited the area we picked up a lot of leaflets for local attractions including; Butterfly Park, Tivoli World (show & amusement park), Cable Cars, Sea Life, Aventura Amazonia – a tree top Adventure Park, Dinosorous Park, BioParc, Crocodile Park, Buggy Safaris, Catamaran Boat Trips, not to mention the options for day trips to Gibraltar and Morocco.

You can search ‘Estepona’ on www.virtualtourist.com for more information although please remember to check any seasonal opening times.

Ok -so that’s about all for now folks, please do get in touch if you have any questions. We are both really looking forward to you celebrating our wedding with us. On that note, we haven’t decided on a gift list as the most important thing to us is that you are able to join us in Spain.

Lots of Love

Angela & Anthony
