Christine and Paul Wedding Spain

Hello everyone!

Welcome to our wedding website where you should find all the information you need to assist in planning your trip, and to make the most of the weekend.

We have included lots of information below about the wedding weekend as well as other information about accommodation and transport which will hopefully make it easier for you.

FLIGHTS

For those of you who haven’t booked flights yet, Malaga Airport is about a 75 minute drive away from the venue There are several airlines that depart from Dublin and London airports, such as the following:

www.ryanair.com
www.iberia.com
www.aerlingus.com
www.ba.com
www.monarch.co.uk

The closest airport to fly into is Gibraltar, which is just over 20km away from the wedding venue, La Almoraima. ‘You cannot fly directly from Ireland (North or South) into Gibraltar however it is ideal for anyone coming from London. See the following airlines: Easyjet (www.easyjet.com) from Gatwick, Monarch (www.monarch.co.uk) from Luton and British Airways (www.ba.com) from Heathrow, for flight details.

Other options include Seville and Jerez Airports which are accessible from Dublin via a connection only. The handiest really is Malaga which has a greater range of flights and is very well serviced in terms of transport.

ACCOMMODATION

We have reserved La Almoraima exclusively for the wedding for three nights (Friday 31st of July, Saturday 1st of August and Sunday of 2nd August). The hotel only has 21 rooms, and the vast majority of these have already been allocated to the wedding party and family. We have however been recommended an excellent alternative that should be able to accommodate everybody else.

The 4* Hotel Castellar‘is less than 2km away from La Almoraima and is situated in the local town of Castellar de la Frontera. It is a 4 star hotel with 74 rooms and we have negotiated discounted rates as follows:

All bookings before 1st April 2015 will receive a discount of 15% off the price on that day. Bookings after April 30th will include a discount of 10% off the marked price on the day of booking.

To reserve a room’email recepcion@hotelcastellar.com and state that you are guests of Paul and Christine wedding on 1st August 2015.

For alternative accommodation in the area, we suggest you check out the following websites:

TRANSFERS/CAR HIRE

Gibraltar – Car Hire

There are many car hire companies that operate from Gibraltar airport however we recommend that you do not hire a car in Gibraltar. If you are flying into Gibraltar and wish to hire a car, it would be advisable to hire a car on the Spanish side of the border between Gibraltar and Spain (5 minutes from the airport) as this will save on cross border costs and long delays at the Gibraltar border check points.

Malaga – Transfers

If seeking a transfer, we would recommend a company called ‘Malaga Transfer’ and have negotiated discounted prices You will need to quote ‘Paul & Christine’s wedding 1st of August 2015’ when you book and your contact is ‘Anabel’.

Malaga Transfer quoted us the following prices for transfers from Malaga airport to La Almoraima;

Up to 4 people 125 euros
Up to 7 people 175 euros’

These are all one way prices.

Email: ‘sales@malagatransfer.co.uk
Tel:’ +34 952 962 710 (and ask for Anabel. Any problems, please let us know).

Malaga – Car Hire

www.holiday-golf.com

We would recommend a company called ‘Holiday Golf’. They will collect you from the airport terminal, drive you the 5 minutes to the car depot and have your hire car ready and waiting for you Our contacts at Holiday Golf are Miguel & Antonio and their contact details are as follows Again please quote that you are guests of our wedding to get favourable rates;

Email: info@holiday-golf.com
Tel: +34 952 40 24 11

Other good websites for cheap and reliable car hire include www.doyouspain.com and www.arguscarhire.com

La Almoraima Directions

GPS Coordinates

36o 17′ 13,31” N
5o 26′ 00,61” O

Please note that the AP-7 motorway is a quicker motorway which runs parallel to the A-7 however the AP-7 is a tolled road and prices vary in the high season. We recommend that you follow the A-7 dual carriageway. It might take fifteen minutes longer or so but save your money for a few cocktails. If all else fails, just let Paul and I know. There will be enough cars floating around that we will come and collect you. We won’t see anyone stuck!

ITINERARY

Getting started – Friday 31st’
We have reserved an area in a very relaxed tapas bar (Restaurante Virgil) in the local village of Castellar de la Frontera to get whoever has arrived together for some tapas and a few drinks for a good catchup. We hope to be there for about 9pm.

The Wedding Day: Saturday 1st
As you know we are getting married at La Almoraima in southern Spain which is a quiet, quaint hotel set in its own nature reserve. Please have a look at the website www.laalmoraimahotel.com for further details.

The ceremony will take place on Saturday 1st August at 5pm in the small convent chapel which is located just off the courtyard on the grounds of the hotel.

As the ceremony is due to start at 5pm, guests are asked to arrive no later than 4.15pm.

The ceremony will be followed by drinks and canapes in the courtyard before you are seated for dinner at 7pm.

After dinner, there will likely be a lot of dodgy dancing, aided only by the free bar which will last for 4-5 hours after dinner.

The Final Chapter: Sunday 2nd’
To round off the celebrations, there will be an early afternoon BBQ/ Paella lunch either at La Almoraima or Hotel Castellar (which will be handy for everyone hopefully) in order to piece together the events of the previous day and take some time to relax. We are finalising the details of the venue in the coming weeks.

Almoraima Railway Station
Almoraima is the station for Castellar de la Frontera – both the new town nearby and the old town up on the hill. It is located adjacent to the A369 San Roque to Gaucin road.

There is only one train a day in each direction on Mr Henderson’s Railway which connects Algeciras and Ronda with the Spanish rail network at Bobadilla for main lines to Granada, Malaga, Cordoba and Madrid.

The station is not manned but tickets can be purchased from the train guard. Of the three platforms, only the one adjacent to the station building is currently used; it has a level crossing at one end.
