Estepona wedding story, Spain

Back

There’s something truly special about weddings in southern Spain. The combination of golden sunshine, beautiful countryside, relaxed hospitality, and unforgettable celebrations creates a setting that is difficult to replicate anywhere else. For Cristina and Yusef, their wedding day was a perfect reflection of everything that makes a destination wedding in Andalusia so unforgettable.

Set within the rolling hills near Estepona, Cristina and Yusef’s chosen wedding venue provided the ideal backdrop for their celebration – a historic Andalusian estate, one of those rare venues that beautifully combines traditional Spanish character with versatile event spaces, allowing every part of the wedding day to flow smoothly from one moment to the next.

Surrounded by mature gardens, palm trees, citrus groves, courtyards, and sweeping countryside views, the venue offers a variety of beautiful settings for each stage of a wedding. Guests can move effortlessly between the ceremony lawn, drinks reception terrace, dining pergola, and poolside party area, never feeling rushed as the day unfolds. Whitewashed walls, rustic wooden features, stone pathways, and shaded patios create an authentic Andalusian atmosphere, while the thoughtfully designed layout makes it ideal for full-day celebrations.

For Cristina and Yusef, this estate became much more than simply a venue. It became the setting for a day filled with meaningful moments, family traditions, music, laughter, and the coming together of loved ones from across the world.

From a quiet wedding morning through to dancing beneath the stars, their celebration perfectly captured the spirit of a Spanish destination wedding. Read on to discover more about their day and what a wedding at this stunning rural estate can be like.

The Wedding Morning – A Relaxed Start in the Andalusian Countryside

Unlike many wedding mornings where couples begin their day apart, Cristina and Yusef chose to wake up together at their countryside estate, enjoying a few peaceful moments before the excitement of the day truly began.

As the morning sun illuminated the gardens and surrounding Andalusian landscape, preparations quietly got underway. The Sunshine Weddings Spain team arrived on site early to oversee the day’s setup and coordinate the final details, while hair styling began, followed by makeup, as suppliers arrived throughout the morning to transform the venue for the celebrations ahead.

Adding to the excitement, their destination wedding photographer, the talented Nora Photography, also arrived to begin documenting the day. From the first moments of preparation to the celebrations still to come, every detail and emotion would be beautifully captured as the story of the day unfolded.

The atmosphere throughout the estate remained wonderfully calm. The poolside area was gradually prepared for the evening party, chill-out furniture was arranged, floral installations were delivered, and every detail was carefully checked by the Sunshine Weddings Spain team.

Inside the bridal suite, Cristina spent the afternoon getting ready with her closest family members. Fresh bouquets arrived, adding beautiful colour and fragrance to the room. Soft natural light streamed through the windows, creating the perfect setting for photography while friends and family shared stories, laughter, and excitement.

Meanwhile, Yusef prepared nearby, taking time for photographs before dressing for the ceremony. His buttonhole was pinned into place, final adjustments were made, and anticipation steadily built as the day moved closer to the ceremony.

One of the most emotional moments of the afternoon came during their private first look. Away from guests and the growing activity around the venue, Cristina and Yusef shared a quiet moment together before the celebrations began. It gave them an opportunity to pause, reflect, and enjoy each other’s company before stepping into the whirlwind of the wedding day.

While they enjoyed this special time together, the Sunshine Weddings Spain team coordinated the final preparations across the estate. Ceremony chairs were aligned, floral arrangements positioned, parasols opened, guest areas checked, and every supplier briefed to ensure the day would unfold seamlessly.

As the afternoon sun softened and guests began to arrive, everything was in place and ready for the celebrations to begin.

Welcome Drinks & Guest Arrival

By late afternoon, guests began arriving at the wedding venue from nearby accommodation in Estepona.

The welcome area in front of the main house immediately set the tone for the celebration ahead. Guests were greeted with chilled cava, sangria, beer, soft drinks, and water as they stepped into the beautiful Andalusian surroundings.

A solo violinist provided elegant live music throughout the welcome drinks, creating a sophisticated vibe as friends and family reunited beneath the Spanish sunshine.

The estate’s central courtyard and terrace areas naturally encouraged guests to mingle. Some gathered beneath the shade of parasols while others explored the gardens, admired the venue’s traditional architecture, or found quiet corners to enjoy the scenery.

The whitewashed walls, flowering plants, and rustic stonework created a picture-perfect setting, while the Sunshine Weddings Spain team ensured everything ran smoothly behind the scenes.

Nearby, a gift table had been thoughtfully arranged, allowing guests to leave cards and gifts before making their way to the ceremony.

As the time approached, the atmosphere shifted from relaxed conversation to growing anticipation.

Guests were gently guided towards the ceremony area while the violinist joined the Laura Sense String Trio, ready for the next chapter of the day.

The Ceremony – Beneath the Andalusian Sky

The ceremony took place on the lawn, facing the trees and framed by the natural beauty of the estate’s gardens.

Stone-wash Chiavari chairs lined the aisle, while elegant floral arrangements created a romantic focal point without distracting from the surrounding landscape. A statement floral arch of white roses, hydrangeas, gypsophila, and seasonal blooms framed the couple as they exchanged their vows, while matching floral meadows positioned along the aisle helped tie the ceremony design together. The all-white palette complemented the surrounding greenery perfectly, creating a timeless and elegant setting.

As guests took their seats, the Laura Sense String Trio began playing.

For the ceremony, Yusef wore a classic black tuxedo with satin lapels, paired with a black bow tie and a white rose buttonhole that coordinated beautifully with the ceremony flowers. Cristina chose an elegant strapless gown with a fitted silhouette and subtle textured detailing, complemented by a long veil and a softly styled updo that perfectly suited the timeless feel of the day.

The ceremony opened with Yusef’s entrance alongside his mother to Bach’s timeless Air in D. Walking from the pool area toward the ceremony space, it was a moment filled with quiet pride and emotion.

Shortly afterwards came the flower girls, Katalina and Antonia, making their way down the aisle to Falling Slowly, adding a beautiful sense of innocence and joy to the proceedings.

Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for.

As Canon in D filled the gardens, Cristina walked down the aisle with Mircea. Surrounded by family and friends, she made her way towards Yusef beneath the warm Andalusian light.

The ceremony itself was heartfelt and personal. Gentle violin music accompanied key moments, creating a romantic soundtrack without overpowering the words being spoken.

As vows were exchanged and promises made, the setting felt wonderfully intimate despite being surrounded by so many loved ones.

When the time came for their first kiss as husband and wife, the trio performed Halo, creating a powerful and memorable moment for everyone present.

During the signing of the marriage documents, Vivaldi’s Largo from Winter provided a beautiful musical backdrop, before the ceremony concluded with the uplifting sounds of Spring from The Four Seasons.

Guests showered the newlyweds with petals as they walked back down the aisle together, officially beginning married life.

Drinks Reception – Music, Celebration & Spanish Hospitality

Following the ceremony, guests returned to the terrace in front of the house for the drinks reception and the vibe immediately transformed into one of celebration.

As Cristina and Yusef entered the reception area, Volare Gypsy Band began playing the iconic Volare, creating an energetic and upbeat welcome for the newlyweds.

Live music filled the courtyard while guests enjoyed drinks, canapés, and conversation beneath the Spanish sunshine.

A selection of cold and hot canapés circulated throughout the reception, accompanied by cava, beer, soft drinks, and water. Special non-alcoholic cava was provided for Cristina and Yusef, reflecting their personal preferences while allowing them to join in every toast throughout the day.

The combination of live music, Andalusian surroundings, and relaxed hospitality created exactly the atmosphere the couple had envisioned.

Guests mingled across the terrace, courtyard, and gardens while photographer Nora captured both candid interactions and family portraits.

The venue’s layout made this part of the day feel particularly natural. Guests could move freely between spaces while always remaining connected to the heart of the celebration.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, the team at Sunshine Weddings Spain continued coordinating the day’s logistics and overseeing supplier setup, including the installation of the dancefloor, which was quietly being prepared for the evening party to come.

As the reception continued, excitement gradually built towards dinner.

Dinner Among the Orange Trees

As the reception came to an end, guests moved to the dining area under a pergola beside the orange and lemon trees.

This part of the venue provides a distinctive outdoor setting in southern Spain.

Round guest tables were placed under the pergola, with a long top table as the focal point. Floral arrangements, place settings, and simple decorative touches created a warm space for dinner.

As guests took their seats, MC Pat prepared to introduce the couple into the dining area.

The entrance was accompanied by Volare Gypsy Band performing Bamboleo, which lifted the atmosphere and drew applause. Cristina and Yusef entered to cheers before taking their seats and beginning the next part of the celebration.

During the meal, guests enjoyed food and drinks while conversation flowed across the tables. The relaxed pace allowed everyone to spend time together and enjoy the setting. One of the couple’s priorities was making sure they saw every guest. During dinner, Cristina and Yusef visited each table for photos with family and friends, creating a record of everyone who had travelled to be there.

Later, the couple stepped away briefly for sunset photos around the grounds. The timing was ideal. The golden Andalusian light covered the gardens, terraces, and citrus trees, creating beautiful moments that were captured on lens by their photographer, Nora.

When they returned, attention shifted to the all-important speeches. With glasses of cava served, guests settled in for a series of emotional and light-hearted words.

Pat opened the speeches, welcoming everyone and reflecting on the day. Jake and Anna Lise followed with stories and memories that brought laughter and emotion. Yusef’s mother Joan then spoke about family, love, and the journey that had brought everyone together.

Doina followed with a heartfelt tribute, and Cristina and Yusef brought the formal part of the evening to a close. Their words focused on gratitude to their families, appreciation for friends who had travelled, and excitement for the future ahead. There were tears, laughter, and long applause throughout.

Dessert was served soon after, as the evening began to shift towards the celebration ahead.

Evening Party – Dancing Beneath the Stars

As night fell over Molino del Duque, the focus moved to the pool area. The space had been transformed into an evening party setting with atmospheric lighting, a disco ball, open bar, photobooth, and dancefloor.

Guests moved freely between the bar, seating areas, and dancefloor as music played and the evening got underway. The open bar served a range of drinks, including Aperol Spritz and later Espresso Martinis.

At 9:20pm, DJ Kmiss took over and quickly raised the energy. Friends and family gathered around the dancefloor as Cristina and Yusef prepared for one of the highlights of the day.

Their first dance was an intimate moment in the middle of the celebration. Surrounded by guests, they shared their first dance as husband and wife before inviting everyone to join them.

From there, the party fully took off.

The dance floor stayed busy for the rest of the night, with music, dancing, and plenty of energy. The photobooth was popular throughout the evening, while others relaxed in the poolside seating areas and caught up under the stars.

Late-night snacks were served, giving guests a boost as the celebration continued into the early hours, wrapping up a day that brought everyone together under the magic of southern Spain.
