A destination wedding overlooking Malaga Bay

Back

From the warm Spanish sunshine and beautiful surroundings to the excitement of getting ready to say “I do”, there’s something special about planning a destination wedding in southern Spain. In today’s bridal story, we’re taking you behind the scenes of Kerry and David’s wedding day, from the morning preparations through to the final hours of the party.

Kerry and David wedding day took place on 28th May 2026, at a private estate in the hills above Malaga. Their day was relaxed and centred around spending time with family and friends. From the morning preparations and poolside welcome to the outdoor ceremony, drinks reception, dinner, sunset photographs and late-night celebrations, they made the most of their chosen wedding venue.

Located in the Pinares de San Anton area, just outside Malaga, the venue sits high on the hillside overlooking the Bay of Malaga and the Mediterranean. Its extensive botanical gardens, saltwater pool, terraces and private villa offer plenty of options for different parts of the wedding day. Its location is also ideal for a destination wedding, with Malaga city centre around 15 minutes away and Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport approximately 20 minutes from the estate.

If you’re considering a Spanish wedding and want to see how a full wedding day can work in this type of setting, read on as we take you through Kerry and David’s celebration, from getting ready and welcoming guests to the ceremony, dinner, photographs and party under the stars.

Bridal Preparations at a Private Wedding Venue in Malaga

The morning started separately for Kerry and David, with Kerry getting ready with her friends while David prepared in Malaga city centre.

For Kerry, the morning began with her hair and make-up team and friends arriving, giving everyone time to settle in before the rest of the wedding day started. As with so many wedding mornings, it was a mixture of getting ready, catching up, checking details and knowing that the ceremony was gradually getting closer.

The estate’s main villa works well for this part of the day, with six bedrooms and space for around 12 to 14 guests, it provides plenty of room for the wedding party to get ready without everyone being crowded into one space. The villa itself has a Mediterranean feel, with views across Malaga and access to the wider estate. Meanwhile, David was getting ready in Malaga before travelling to the wedding venue with four of his friends. Once he arrived, there was time for photographs with his friends and family before the ceremony, while Kerry had a little quiet time to herself before her first look with her father. Photography was by Tatiana Tsarenko Photography, who captured these moments as the day got underway.

Poolside Welcome Drinks with Mediterranean Views

As guests began to arrive, it was time to welcome everyone with a drink by the pool before moving on to the ceremony. It gave friends and family a chance to settle in, catch up and enjoy the setting before the day became more formal.

The pool area provided a relaxed spot for the welcome, surrounded by greenery with views across Malaga and the coastline. Guests were served cava, lemonade, flavoured water and almond snacks, with parasols and handheld fans available to keep everyone comfortable in the Spanish sunshine.

Music played as guests arrived, creating a relaxed vibe while everyone gathered. The venue’s extensive grounds made it easy to give each part of the day its own space. With around 20 hectares of private grounds and approximately 15,000 square metres of landscaped botanical gardens, there are plenty of areas to move between throughout the celebration. For Kerry and David, the pool provided a natural starting point for the day, before guests were guided to the garden ceremony area.

An Outdoor Garden Ceremony Overlooking Malaga

As guests finished their welcome drinks, they were invited to take their seats in the gardens for the ceremony. The setting was a lovely fit for the day, with rows of simple wooden chairs set out on the lawn and mature olive trees surrounding the space. Beyond the gardens, the hillside opens out towards Malaga, giving the ceremony a real sense of its Spanish setting without needing to overdo the décor.

The ceremony styling was kept simple, with white ribbon details on the chairs and reserved seating signs adding a personal touch. The natural greenery, olive trees and bright blue sky did most of the work, creating a relaxed outdoor setting for the ceremony.

David was waiting at the front with his friends and family nearby, dressed in a light cream suit with a white shirt, keeping his look smart but relaxed for the warm Spanish setting. Kerry arrived with her father wearing a classic white wedding dress with a fitted bodice, delicate off-the-shoulder sleeves and a flowing skirt, finished with a long veil. Her look suited the outdoor setting perfectly and kept the focus on her as she made her way down the aisle.

There was also a request for guests to put their phones away during the ceremony, giving everyone the chance to be fully present rather than watching the proceedings through a screen.

Kerry walked down the aisle with her father to meet David, and the couple exchanged their vows surrounded by their closest family and friends. After the ceremony and signing, the flower girl handed out petals to guests before Kerry and David made their way back down the aisle together as newlyweds. With the formalities over, it was time for everyone to head back towards the drinks reception and continue celebrating.

A Relaxed Drinks Reception in the Spanish Sunshine

After the ceremony, guests followed Kerry and David through to the drinks reception, where everyone could relax, grab another drink and spend some time together. The reception continued outside, making the most of the venue’s gardens and views. Guests could choose from cava, white, rosé and red wine, soft drinks, as well as two signature cocktails – a Hugo Spritz and a Rum Watermelon Cooler. Cold and hot canapés were also served during the first part of the reception, giving everyone something to enjoy while catching up and congratulating the newlyweds.

The setting also gave Tatiana Tsarenko Photography plenty of options for photographs. With mature olive trees, palms, colourful planting and views across the coast, Kerry and David were able to enjoy their couple portraits without having to leave the venue or spend time travelling between locations. Family photographs followed, with Tatiana working from a prepared shot list to make sure the important group photographs were captured while still leaving plenty of time for everyone to enjoy the reception.

Kerry and David also planned some time for themselves during the drinks reception. With their guests enjoying the drinks and canapés, they were able to step away for a few minutes, have a drink together and take in the fact that they were finally married.

Dinner on a Panoramic Terrace Overlooking the Mediterranean

As the drinks reception came to an end, guests made their way to the terrace for dinner. The venue’s large panoramic terrace provided the setting, with long tables dressed in soft green linen and rows of natural rattan-style chairs. Large white parasols offered shade while guests enjoyed the views, with palm trees and colourful planting adding to the relaxed Mediterranean setting. The terrace sits high above Malaga, with the Mediterranean stretching out behind the tables, giving guests plenty to look at while they enjoyed dinner.

Before dinner, guests were served cava for the speeches. Scott introduced the speeches, giving everyone a chance to slow things down after the ceremony and drinks reception and hear from some of the people closest to the couple. There was plenty of laughter and a few emotional moments before everyone settled in for dinner. The meal then got underway, with starters followed by the main course and dessert. While guests were seated, the anniversary cards were passed around, giving family and friends the chance to leave messages for Kerry and David to read in the future.

As dinner progressed, the light over the Bay of Malaga began to soften, so Kerry and David took the opportunity to step away for some more photographs with Tatiana. With the views right on the doorstep, there was no need to travel elsewhere for their sunset portraits. After dinner and dessert, it was time for the cake cutting before the evening moved towards the party. The band began with a chilled set outside, giving everyone the chance to stay on the terrace a little longer and enjoy the evening before heading inside.

With the dinner area being cleared around them, the terrace took on a more relaxed feel. Guests could have another drink, listen to the music and enjoy the last part of the evening outside, with the sea still providing the backdrop. Then it was time to head inside, where the atmosphere shifted and party mode was officially on.

A Late-Night Wedding Party in Malaga

Before the party got fully underway, Kerry made a quick change of outfit, swapping her wedding dress for a shorter, more relaxed look that gave her more freedom to dance and enjoy the rest of the night. For Kerry and David, the party continued indoors, with the bar serving another pair of cocktails: Mai Tais and Espresso Martinis. The band played their second set before the music moved over to DJ Steve, who took over for the rest of the night. With the venue’s dedicated indoor party space, the celebrations could continue without having to worry about the usual outdoor music restrictions that can apply at Spanish wedding venues.

Later in the night, late-night snacks were served, giving everyone a welcome boost after a full day of eating, drinking and dancing. Eventually, the music came to an end and the bar closed, bringing Kerry and David’s wedding day to a close.
