Q&A with destination wedding photographer Nora – Capturing Love Stories in Spain

Back

At Sunshine Weddings Spain, we’re lucky to work with some incredibly talented people who help make destination weddings unforgettable. Every so often, we get to spotlight these amazing professionals—giving our couples a chance to get to know the artists behind the magic. Today, we’re excited to introduce Nora, a destination wedding photographer with a passion for storytelling through the lens.

We recently sat down with Nora to hear more about her journey, her style, and why she loves photographing weddings on the Costa del Sol.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, and how you got into wedding photography.

When I was 16, the world felt like it was spinning too fast and I was struggling to find my place. School was overwhelming, and nothing seemed to stick—until my dad gave me an old Minolta camera. I didn’t know what I was doing at first, but the moment I looked through the viewfinder, something just clicked.

All of a sudden, I could slow things down and focus on the little details—light falling through trees, textures on old walls, fleeting expressions. Photography gave me a voice I didn’t know I had.

A few rolls of film later (and a lot of trial and error in the darkroom), I realized I’d found something special. I enrolled in a local photography school that summer and felt instantly at home. From that point on, I never stopped shooting. Every image became part of a story I was learning how to tell.

How would you describe your photography style?

My style blends elegance, glamour, and emotion. I aim to capture not just how things looked, but how they felt. I want my photos to tell a story—one that’s full of life, love, and all the beautiful little moments in between.

What makes a wedding photo truly stand out?

For me, it’s the emotion. Anyone can take a technically perfect shot, but capturing real, genuine emotion is what makes a photo unforgettable. I strive to create images that feel timeless, but still vibrant and alive with the energy of the day.

What do you love most about photographing weddings on the Costa del Sol?

The Costa del Sol is a dream. The landscapes, the architecture, the soft golden light—it’s a perfect setting for telling love stories. The natural beauty here is unbeatable, and there’s something about destination weddings that brings an extra spark. The joy, the adventure, the romance—it all comes together in a really special way.

Are there any recent photography trends couples are leaning into?

Definitely—candid, unposed moments are really popular right now. Couples want their wedding albums to feel authentic and full of raw emotion. There’s a big focus on documentary-style photography, where the real moments—tears, laughter, nervous glances—are front and centre. It creates a more intimate and honest reflection of the day.

What’s the most memorable wedding you’ve ever shot—and why?

There was one wedding where everything just worked. The lighting was perfect, the couple had such a powerful story, and the atmosphere was filled with genuine emotion. I remember walking away that night feeling completely fulfilled. It’s those rare days where all the elements align that stay with you the longest.

What advice would you give couples planning a destination wedding, especially when it comes to photography?

Trust your photographer’s guidance, especially on timing. Make room in your schedule for sunset photos—they’re always worth it. Also, don’t overpack your day with events. The best photos happen when there’s time to breathe, connect, and let the moments unfold naturally. Build in time for portraits, for quiet moments between you and your partner, and for creativity. When everyone’s relaxed, the magic happens.

What’s the one wedding moment that always gets you emotional?

The father’s speech—every single time! I’m usually hiding behind the camera with tears in my eyes.

How far in advance should couples book you?

If you’re planning a wedding during the busy season—spring, summer, or early autumn—it’s smart to book 12 to 18 months ahead. Popular dates and venues fill up quickly, and that gives you a better chance of locking in your ideal team.

What’s included in your standard wedding photography package?

I like to offer a package that covers everything—from the start of the day right through to the dance floor. Here’s a typical breakdown:

  • Pre-Wedding Consultation
We’ll chat in person, over the phone, or on a video call to go through your vision, the timeline, special requests, and family/group dynamics.
  • Full-Day Coverage
From getting ready to your final dance, I’ll be there to catch all the key moments—plus the in-between ones that often end up being the favorites. This includes:

    • Bridal and groom prep
    • First look and couple portraits
    • Ceremony, group photos, and candid moments
    • Reception coverage: speeches, dancing, toasts, and cake cutting
  • Optional Second Photographer
For larger events, having an extra photographer helps cover more ground—guest reactions, different angles, and extra candid moments.
  • High-Resolution Edited Images
I’ll carefully edit your images for colour, tone, and mood. You’ll get them in high-res, ready to print, and watermark-free.
  • Online Gallery
Private and password-protected, your gallery makes it easy to download, share, and even order prints.
  • Sneak Peek Within 48 Hours
You’ll receive a curated preview of 30–50 photos shortly after your wedding—a perfect way to relive those first few moments.
  • Optional Engagement Shoot
This is a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera before the big day—and it’s a fun chance to create relaxed, personal images you can treasure or use for save-the-dates.

How long after the wedding do couples receive their photos?

Usually within 8 to 9 weeks. I want to make sure every image gets the care and attention it deserves.

What’s your favourite part of photographing weddings?

It’s the small, quiet moments. A glance, a hug, the way someone’s hand lingers just a second longer. Weddings are full of big, bold emotions—but it’s those little, in-between moments that really tell the story. That’s what I love capturing most.

Thank you Nora, for sharing your story and passion with us. It’s clear you bring, not only technical talent, but also heart and soul to every wedding you photograph.
