Destination wedding photographer capturing love stories in Spain…
Today we are delighted to chat with popular wedding photographer based on the Costa del Sol, Andreas Holm, who, in today’s exclusive interview, shares with us how to perfectly frame happily ever afters in priceless snapshots for you to cherish forever.
Thanks for joining us today Andreas, and taking time out of your busy schedule. Tell us a bit more about yourself, I believe you are from Sweden, how did you get into photography and what brought you to Spain?
Yes, I grew up in the North of Sweden. In 2004 I came down to Malaga for a few weeks to work as a volunteer at a rescue center for cats and dogs. I ended up staying a lot longer and never returned to Sweden.
I was studying photography in Sweden but it wasn’t until I started shooting weddings in Spain that I really got into it. Some friends asked me to photograph their wedding in 2009, which led to another wedding, and another one. Then it took off from there.
When I photograph I am mindful, and I shoot from my perspective of the world. Then again, I do not know If that is unique? I reckon that is what all photographers do. And I also do not think that I am the one to tell If it is unique. All People are unique! All photographers are.
When looking at my own Instagram feed I can tell that my photos have a certain tone in colour, which many people find calm and comfortable.
The main tip would be to just relax and enjoy the moment together. My goal is to keep it as natural as possible, giving space for the couple to connect with each other.
I usually deliver around 700-800 images for a full day wedding, which will be delivered within 4-8 weeks. It depends on what time of year it is. During high season it can take a bit longer.
I was shooting a wedding in the north of Sweden once, and the couple had hired a helicopter for us to take portraits on a small Island. Unfortunately, I got food poisoned on the day before the wedding. (Some strange Swedish Fish) So, I had to keep a poker face during the helicopter ride. That wasn’t fun! Luckily, they never noticed it and we managed to get some beautiful images that day.
I love being outdoors in nature, and there are many beautiful locations for hiking here in Spain. I’m also into making music, both playing and producing. It’s just been for fun but I hope to actually release some music one day soon.
