Wedding Day Chronicles

At this very venue, Zoe and Clem embarked on their journey of love with an early autumn ceremony. The rustic charm of the venue, coupled with its unparalleled views and a host of wedding-tailored services, set the stage for their unforgettable day last October.

As the morning light filtered through the countryside, the bridal suite buzzed with anticipation. Lorraine, the skilled makeover artist, commenced her artistry, crafting the perfect hair and makeup looks for Zoe and her bridal party. Meanwhile, florist Karen arrived, delivering exquisite bouquets directly to the suite, adorning it with the fragrance of fresh blooms. Simultaneously, the groom awaited the arrival of buttonholes, adding a touch of elegance to his attire.

Amidst the busy preparation, photographer Issy captured the moments, freezing the excitement of the groomsmen as they pinned on boutonnieres. With hair styled, makeup done, and flowers in hand, everything was set for the big day to commence.

As the afternoon sun reached its peak, guests assembled under the shade of olive trees at the entrance to the traditional cortijo grounds. Welcomed with refreshing sangria, soft drinks, and a stand offering flavoured water infused with lemon and mint or cucumber, they began to mingle.

Against the backdrop of a curated playlist, carefully chosen for the occasion, conversations flowed freely as anticipation built. Then, guided by the melodic strains of Bob Dylan’s timeless classic “Make You Feel My Love,” performed by a family cousin, Matt, on saxophone, the ceremony commenced.

The Ceremony

Accompanied by her mother, the bride exuded elegance in a flowing chiffon gown with a snug bodice, making her way to the ceremony area. There, beneath a beautifully adorned wedding arbor, Zoe and Clem exchanged vows, the shimmering Mediterranean sea in the distance providing a picturesque backdrop. The couple was united in matrimony by English-speaking Minister Jeff in a personalised ceremony with sentimental touches. As the sky changed hues, casting a dreamy light, photographer Issy captured the magical moment with skillful precision. Accompanied by the soulful melodies of Matt on saxophone, the ceremony was infused with emotion. With “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley playing during the signing, and “Champs Elysees” by Joe Dessin marking their exit, adding to the romantic atmosphere.

Now as husband and wife, Zoe and Clem walked back up the aisle, amid a shower of delicate white rose petals, to the melodic strains of “Champs Elysees,” joining their guests by the outdoor swimming pool for a celebratory drink.

Party in the Courtyard

As the meal concluded and the sun dipped below the horizon, the courtyard came alive with the start of the party. Guests gathered to witness the newlyweds’ first dance under a starry sky, to Elton John’s “Your Song,” skillfully performed by the lively Costa del Sol band, Monkey Tennis. With a four-hour open bar in full swing, the band treated guests to a funky two-hour music set, setting the stage for an evening of celebration. Later, DJ Fuller took over, with occasional accompaniment from Matt on sax, keeping the energy high with a lively playlist that had everyone dancing until the early hours of the morning.

Adding to the entertainment, a fun photobooth provided guests with memorable keepsakes of the evening. As the sky began to glow with the first light of dawn, the final transfer departed from the cortijo ensuring all guests reached their respective accommodations safely. Bringing together loved ones from across Europe, the destination wedding in southern Spain provided a picturesque backdrop for Zoe and Clem’s special day, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Opting for an October wedding in Southern Spain, like Zoe and Clem did, presents several enticing benefits for couples seeking a memorable and picturesque celebration.

  1. Ideal Weather: October in Southern Spain typically offers mild and pleasant weather, with comfortable temperatures and lower chances of extreme heat. This creates a cosy atmosphere for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies and receptions.
  2. Beautiful Scenery: The autumn season paints the landscape with rich and vibrant hues, adding a stunning backdrop to your wedding photos. The golden sunlight filtering through the changing leaves creates a romantic ambiance, perfect for capturing timeless moments.
  3. Cost Savings: Off-peak season weddings often come with reduced costs for venues, accommodations, and vendors. Couples can take advantage of discounted rates and special offers, allowing them to allocate their budget more efficiently or splurge on additional elements for their special day.
  4. Availability: With fewer weddings taking place during the off-peak season, couples have greater flexibility and availability when it comes to booking their preferred venues and vendors. This ensures a wider selection of options and the opportunity to secure their dream location without competing with peak season demand.
  5. Intimate Atmosphere: Smaller crowds and fewer tourists during the off-peak season create a more intimate and exclusive atmosphere for your wedding. Guests can enjoy a more personalised experience, and couples can focus on spending quality time with their loved ones without feeling overwhelmed by large crowds.
  6. Extended Celebrations: With daylight hours gradually decreasing in October, couples can take advantage of longer evenings for their celebrations. This allows for extended cocktail hours, outdoor receptions under the stars, and memorable moments that linger well into the night.

Overall, an October wedding in Southern Spain offers couples the perfect blend of favourable weather, stunning scenery, cost savings, and intimate atmosphere, ensuring a truly magical and unforgettable celebration of love.
