Imagine getting married in a Spanish fairytale castle, perched high on a hilltop and overlooking the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean. Imagine wandering through ancient stone archways and crumbling walls, with hidden corners, romantic terraces and breathtaking mountain views creating the perfect backdrop for your wedding photographs.
This isn’t fantasy. This is one of our most enchanting castle wedding venues in Málaga, and last April, on a beautiful spring Saturday, it became the setting for Enya and Eamonn’s unforgettable destination wedding.
Built on the foundations of a centuries-old Moorish fortress and lovingly restored into an intimate boutique hotel, this extraordinary venue blends Andalusian history with modern luxury. Panoramic views stretch across olive groves and citrus orchards towards the Mediterranean Sea, while elegant terraces, secluded courtyards and stylish interiors create endless possibilities for every part of a wedding day.
From exchanging vows beneath a stone arch to dancing beneath the stars with family and friends, Enya and Eamonn’s wedding was the very definition of timeless romance.

One of the most wonderful things about destination weddings is that they become more than just one day – they become an experience.
Having spent the previous days surrounded by their nearest and dearest, Enya and Eamonn woke up together in their beautiful castle suite. Before the excitement truly began, they enjoyed a quiet breakfast together overlooking the Andalusian countryside.
Those peaceful moments before the celebrations started gave them the chance to soak everything in and reflect on the incredible journey that had brought them to this magical place.
Soon afterwards, they parted ways for the final preparations, each beginning their own special morning surrounded by loved ones.
Back in the bridal suite, excitement was building. Hair and makeup preparations got underway, transforming the suite into a hive of activity filled with music, laughter and plenty of happy tears. Bridesmaids popped in and out, family members checked on details and everyone shared in the anticipation of the day ahead.
Meanwhile, Sunshine Weddings Spain arrived to ensure everything was running smoothly. With bouquets delivered and the finishing touches coming together, there was a wonderful sense of calm amid the excitement.
The floral arrangements, supplied by Deseos Floristas, perfectly complemented the surroundings. Soft romantic blooms added touches of elegance without taking away from the natural beauty of the castle itself.
Then Dee from Dee Photography arrived, and began capturing all those precious details that often pass in a blur—the dress hanging in the window, handwritten notes, bouquets, jewellery and those emotional moments shared between mothers, daughters and lifelong friends.
First Looks and Special Family Moments
Before heading to the ceremony, Enya enjoyed several heartfelt first-look moments.
Her bridesmaids were among the first to see her in her dress, and their reactions were priceless. A close group of friends gathered for another emotional reveal, filling the room with squeals, hugs and tears of joy.
Perhaps one of the most touching moments came when Enya shared a private first look with her father. These intimate memories are often the ones couples treasure most, and the emotion on everyone’s faces spoke volumes.
Meanwhile, Eamonn and his groomsmen enjoyed a relaxed morning together, sharing laughs and making sure ties, cufflinks and buttonholes were all perfectly in place before making their way to the ceremony area.

As the excitement continued behind the scenes, guests began arriving at the castle and gathering in the charming hotel reception area, built on the remains of an ancient Moorish fortress.
Soft ambient music played throughout the welcome, giving guests time to mingle and take in the surroundings before the ceremony. The groomsmen, together with the Sunshine Weddings Spain team, welcomed everyone on arrival and, after a brief welcome drink, guided guests to their seats beneath the stone arch, ready for the ceremony to begin.
With family and friends arriving from Ireland and beyond, there were plenty of hugs and happy reunions before everyone settled in, ready to watch Enya and Eamonn say “I do”.

Guests gathered in front of the castle’s stone arch, with views across the surrounding countryside. White chairs lined the aisle, decorated with small floral posies, while arrangements in peach, blush and ivory tones framed the ceremony space and complemented the rustic stone backdrop.
As guests settled into their seats, gentle music created a beautiful atmosphere before the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived. Accompanied by live keyboard, violin and vocals, Enya made her entrance looking effortlessly elegant in a fitted satin gown with delicate off-the-shoulder detailing and long lace gloves. A cathedral-length veil completed her timeless bridal look. Eamonn looked equally smart in a light beige suit paired with a crisp white shirt, neutral tie and a classic rose buttonhole, perfectly suited to the relaxed elegance of a spring wedding in Spain.
Standing beneath the ancient arch with rolling green hills stretching out behind them, the couple exchanged vows surrounded by family and friends. Their celebrant guided the ceremony with warmth and humour, creating a relaxed vibe filled with smiles, happy tears and plenty of laughter.
Following the signing of the marriage documents, guests showered the newlyweds with petals as they made their way back up the aisle together, officially beginning married life as husband and wife.

After the ceremony, everyone moved into the castle gardens where drinks and canapés awaited.
There guests enjoyed cava, local wines and ice-cold beers while taking in the magnificent mountain views and sunshine that southern Spain is famous for.
As a playlist chosen by the couple played softly in the background, family photographs began while guests mingled and shared stories.
One particularly meaningful feature of the drinks reception was the memorial table dedicated to beloved grandparents. Decorated with flowers and family photographs, it provided a touching way for those no longer physically present to remain part of the celebration.
Guests also took time to sign the couple’s guestbook, leaving messages and memories that Enya and Eamonn will treasure forever.
Golden Hour Romance
One of the greatest advantages of a spring wedding in Andalucía is the incredible light. As the sun began its slow descent, Dee Photography whisked the newlyweds away for some portrait photographs around the castle grounds. And what a backdrop they had: Ancient archways, secret passageways, rustic stone walls. terraces overlooking endless mountains.
The soft glow of the setting sun bathed everything in golden light, creating photographs that looked like scenes from a movie. The beauty of this venue is that every corner feels romantic and unique, allowing couples to disappear for a few moments together while guests continue enjoying the celebrations below.

As evening approached, guests were invited into the elegant dining area. Long banquet tables created a wonderfully sociable atmosphere, while Enya and Eamonn enjoyed their own romantic table overlooking the festivities. The room was beautifully styled with thoughtful details including personalised seating cards and elegant décor that perfectly blended with the castle’s timeless character.
Then came one of the most fun moments of the evening. Introduced with a burst of energy and accompanied by Chaka Khan’s iconic Ain’t Nobody, the newlyweds made their grand entrance to enthusiastic cheers and applause.
Heartfelt Speeches
Destination weddings often bring together friends and family from all corners of the world, making speeches especially emotional.
One by one, family members and loved ones shared stories, memories and heartfelt words. There were plenty of laughs, tears and moments that had everyone reaching for tissues. Finally, Eamonn stood to thank everyone for travelling to Spain and for sharing in such an important day.
Guests then enjoyed a relaxed dinner filled with wonderful food, flowing wine and endless conversation. As darkness slowly fell outside, fairy lights and candles transformed the space into something truly magical.
There was no rush, just friends and family enjoying each other’s company, soaking up the atmosphere and celebrating together. These moments are often what make destination weddings so special. Without the pressure of rushing home, everyone could simply relax and enjoy being together.
As the colours of the sky changed, Enya and Eamonn slipped away once more with Dee Photography for a few final portraits. The Andalusian sunset painted the mountains in shades of pink, gold and lavender while the ancient castle walls created the most romantic setting imaginable.
These quiet moments together provided a chance for the newlyweds to pause and reflect before the party truly began.

With dinner complete, guests made their way to the upper terrace where the evening entertainment began.
The couple shared their first dance surrounded by friends and family before spectacular pyrotechnics added an unforgettable touch to the moment.
Then the party truly got underway. The incredible five-piece Stereostar Band had everyone on the dance floor from the very first song. Their energy was infectious, and guests of all ages danced beneath the stars with the castle illuminated behind them.
Later in the evening, the celebrations moved indoors where DJ Altman kept the party going long into the night.
One of the most memorable moments was the couple’s wonderfully quirky “cat toss” – a playful alternative to the traditional bouquet toss. Instead of flowers, a soft toy resembling their beloved cat was thrown into the crowd, with the lucky catcher supposedly destined to be the next person to adopt a feline friend!
It perfectly captured Enya and Eamonn’s fun-loving personalities and had everyone laughing.
As midnight approached, sweet treats and wedding cake helped fuel the dance floor, and guests continued celebrating until the early hours.
The beauty of destination weddings is that the fun doesn’t have to end after one day. The following afternoon, family and friends reunited in the castle gardens for a relaxed day-after gathering.
With drinks flowing, live entertainment and a delicious paella feast, everyone had another opportunity to relive the highlights of the wedding and enjoy the last precious moments together before heading home.
It was the perfect ending to a truly unforgettable wedding weekend.
A wedding like this is only possible thanks to an amazing team, and we’d like to extend a huge thank you to all of the talented suppliers whose hard work, professionalism and passion helped make the day so memorable. Special thanks also to Dee Photography for capturing these beautiful images. ¡Gracias a everyone who helped make Enya and Eamonn’s wedding so magical!
