Traditional wedding ceremony Spain | Old town church wedding Marbella

Back

In perhaps one of the most beautiful churches in Marbella, located in the heart of Casco Antiguo or more commonly the old town, a traditional church wedding took place at the hands of Father Luis, with the beautiful Catherine and Christopher as the protagonists of today’s bridal story…

A Church Wedding in Spain

It was at this magnificently beautiful church in the middle of old town Marbella, on the first Monday of May 2022, that the lovely bridal couple Catherine and Chistopher said “I do.”

There the wedding guests gathered, expectant on the arrival of the radiant bride, as they marvelled at the church’s external facade that recalls the Hispanic style of the past centuries. And it was to the entrance song “I’ll never love again” by Lady Gaga, the blushing bride moved into the spacious interior of the traditional church venue escorted by her mother.

Surrounded by some 80 friends and family and to the beautiful service music “Ave Maria.” The sentimental vows were said and rings exchanged in a ceremony that flowed with ease, led by Father Luis. An oasis of calm and faith in the midst of the bustling and popular Casco Antiguo.

Afterwards, the wedding party enjoyed some drinks and a moment of relaxed chit-chat at a typical Spanish courtyard located just outside the church, where the super talented Kasia from Love Hunters took some fun snaps of the couple along the cobblestone pathways and nearby orange square full of blooms and fragrant citrus.

A few extra rounds and everyone was led directly to the coaches to continue the celebration at a nearby exclusive wedding events finca where glasses of bubbly were waiting for all on their arrival.

There at the grounds of this typical Spanish finca, located just five minutes from the city centre—where unique corners with incomparable views of the Mediterranean and flowing fountains make for the perfect outdoor wedding venue—the guests were offered a delicious selection of drinks and a wide range of canapes including: Thai chicken fingers, langoustine with Romesco sauce Horns, Iberian barbecue skewers and an assortment of cheeses to name but a few.

The guests were able to enjoy a relaxed moment mingling in the landscaped areas, rich in tropical flowers, as the sun set leaving perfect lighting for Kasia to capture some more amazing magical moments of the day, before the bridal party were invited to a covered lounge facing the shimmering Mediterranean sea—with capacity for about 450 people.

There guests were treated to a flavoursome BBQ Buffet Station, at the hands of gourmet experts Alabardero Catering, including plenty of helpings of Iberian presa, chicken churrasco, black pudding, homemade sausages and chicken wings, followed by a refreshing mint and yuzu with red fruits for dessert.

Travel themed wedding cake

The wedding cake, with a travel themed topper, was then brought out for the bridal couple to cut. A tantalising 2-tier, full Italian meringue buttercream cake, with the larger tier of raspberry and white chocolate and classic vanilla for the smaller tier.

The charming cake cutting tradition made another great photo opportunity for Kasia to capture before it was time to hit the dance floor.

Shoes Off & Party

The party started outside where an eight-hour open bar began, alongside a cocktail bar station which served margaritas, mojitos and strawberries. There the bride, groom and guests partied the night away to a catchy playlist at the hands of the amazing DJ Fuller.

At midnight, the guests were invited back inside the covered lounge to continue enjoying themselves with late night snacks, a Mexican corner station and pizza station, which provided an endless flow of delicious food and drink for all.
