Wedding venue Mijas | Traditional Spanish hacienda

Back

Wedding day highlights at a stunning wedding venue, located in the foothills of Mijas Costa.

Outdoor wedding ceremony area in southern Spain.

Today we take a look back at one of the weddings we were fortunate to organise at the start of last season; which took place in what is perhaps one of the most luxurious cortijos in the region of Mijas.

This stunning 10 bedroomed Hacienda provides the ideal setting for an intimate, vintage or rural wedding situated in the beautiful Entrerrios Mijas hills, surrounded by golf courses, greenery and other luxury villas.

And on the first Saturday of May last year, we were able to witness the beautiful and romantic union between Emily and Ryan.

Cascading blooms, flowing fabrics and elegant bohemian Balinese parasols set the tone to this sun-garden wedding in Spain, which commenced with a refreshing welcome drink handed out to the wedding guest as they arrived at the tradicional hacienda, serenaded by the peaceful strumming of local guitarist, Nano.

After a moment of easy chitchat, the wedding guests were then invited to the ceremony area—which boasts spectacular views to the rugged mountain-ranges that surround the finca—and from where they witnessed the lovely Emily and Ryan joined as husband and wife.

Romantic instrumental music sounded throughout the ceremony adding to the charm of the moment and for an instant the day paused, engraved forever in the minds of those present as Emily and Ryan said “I do.”

Once the vows were said and the rings exchanged, the newlyweds then made their way back up the aisle and joined their guests on the veridian upper side lawn for some delicious hot and cold canopies, a glass of bubbly and more ambient guitar sounds. There the wedding party enjoyed an unparalleled view of the beautiful Spanish countryside and the sparkling coastline as the newlyweds enjoyed their photo session at the hands of the talented Talia from Thoroughly Gorgeous.

The main course was then held in the rear garden, in a tropical space overlooking the outdoor swimming pool as the main feature. There the wedding guests were offered a fantastic spread which started with an appetising slow cooked crispy duck with onion and baby leaves dressed with a mango vinaigrette or gambas pil pil (prawns) in a sizzling garlic and chilli oils, followed by a fillet of seared beef or fillets of sea bass for the mains. A delicious meal which finished off with a trio for dessert including: summer fruits and strawberry vol-au-vent with vanilla crème topped with macaron and red berry coulis.

Golden sun rays dialled up the romantic atmosphere as dusk settled and the newlyweds enjoyed some pre-sunset snaps on the lush grounds of this popular wedding venue, with Talia once again creating striking wedding photos before it was time to hit the dance floor.

There in the lower courtyard, which had been decorated with minimalist lighting which added an intimate charm to the night, the wedding guests witness the first dance to James Morrison’s “I won’t let you go”, before a five-piece band took over the mic, elevating the party to the next level with lively and upbeat songs.

The following day, Emily and Ryan, together with all their guests returned to the Hacienda for a BBQ and a day chilling by the pool. Approximately 80 guests were able to share this fairy-tale event with the wonderful bridal couple who we thank for sharing their special day with us.

A huge thank you also to Shona who provided the beautiful wedding flowers, Georgina and Nicola the wedding hair and makeup specialists for the day, cake designer Louise for the delicious 3-tier buttercream cake with eucalyptus, roses and pampas and of course to Talia for the use of these incredible images.
