“I always knew that I wanted to get married in the sunshine and somewhere with incredible Mediterranean food, so a few months after we got engaged, I started looking at weddings in Majorca & Tuscany. Initially, Majorca looked like a more affordable destination, so after a few days, I began to look at venue locations in a bit more detail and I was amazed. Quite a lot of my family live abroad, so I knew they would have to get on plane wherever I got married, and I loved the idea of being able to make it into a little holiday for everyone & so we could spend quality time with our close friends and family.

We had actually been to Majorca almost 6 years ago, on our very first holiday, but hadn’t spent much time exploring the island, so we weren’t that familiar with it. However, after chatting to quite a few friends and family who had been there, I knew I’d made a great choice, as they always had great things to say about the people, food and scenery. My Mum has been to Majorca every year for the past 5 years, so she was particularly excited when I had decided that’s where we should start our search. My maid of honour’s sister had also got married in Majorca a year ago and I remember seeing unbelievable wedding photos.”

“When I had decided on Majorca, I searched for wedding planning companies online and contacted them to get some information on price and location. We already had our eye on one particular venue, however we’d decided to meet with 2 different wedding planners and see 4 different venues, so that we could make an informed decision. The wedding planners were all pleasant and gave us the information we needed, however when Mum & I returned to the UK, we didn’t feel 100% comfortable that they were the company for us. We were in love with the island and food, but as it’s such a big day we decided to try one more wedding company and see what they had to offer. This was Sunshine Weddings. So once again Mum & I took a flight to Majorca. A lovely lady called Maria picked us up from our hotel and as soon as we met her, she was warm, welcoming and incredibly passionate about her job. We instantly knew we’d met the right person and couldn’t stop smiling throughout the whole day. On the journey back to our hotel, she even went out of her way to show us hotel locations for our guests to stay and we really felt she represented exactly the kind of people who we would trust to help plan our wedding. And they 100% delivered.”

“As soon as we pulled up to the Finca, I knew this was exactly where I wanted to get married. The scenery was unbelievably spectacular and it just seemed perfect. The courtyard entrance was incredible by itself, and then to walk through the Finca, onto the lawn area, I knew we had found an incredible venue. It was hard to take it all in as I was blown away with how stunning it was. I knew it would make the perfect location for our day and I couldn’t wait to see how amazing it would look with the decorations and flowers.”

“The guests were completely amazed by how stunning the venue was and by how beautiful the surroundings were. It was the perfect backdrop for our day and for all the lovely pictures taken by our guests. We were very lucky to be able to spend quality time with most of our friends and family a few days before and after the wedding as most people had turned the occasion into a mini holiday. They were really special days for us and it meant so much to us to be able to spend time relaxing with people we don’t get to see as often as we’d like.”

“I had a little bit of an idea about what style of gown I would like, however all those ideas disappeared as soon as I tried them on. Initially I tried on about 6 or 7 gowns and came away knowing the things I definitely didn’t want, but not completely sure what I did want. I knew it had to be light and made from a comfortable material as Majorca can be very warm in June. The gown I chose didn’t grab me straight away when I saw it in the shop, however as soon as I put it on, I didn’t want to take it off. It had a beautiful satin slip underneath an incredible lace dress. The lace dress was slightly longer than the satin slip and made a stunning train at the back. The dress was very delicate with small amounts of intricate detail and I felt it was perfect for a Majorcan wedding.

We didn’t have a specific theme in mind, we just knew that we wanted to create a relaxed atmosphere, so that our guests could be comfortable and really enjoy themselves. It was about sharing our special day with our closest friends and family. The venue and surroundings were spectacular enough, so we knew that anything too fussy would take away from that. I wanted the decorations to be very simple, with only white flowers, lots of greenery and candles. During our dinner, the sun had started to set and it created the most amazing atmosphere with the candles and festoon lighting.”

“Luckily for me, my Mum and mother in law have a very good eye for flowers, so once I had given them a mini brief of what I wanted, they were able to discuss that with the florist quite easily. The florist was brilliant in showing us pictures of bouquets she had previously created, and was able to offer suggestions of more unusual and exotic flowers. The flowers ended up being a lovely finishing touch to our centrepieces and everyone commented on how beautiful my bouquet was.

We decided to have a tapas style menu, so that our guests could share a few dishes and get a real taste for Majorcan cuisine. For the starter, our cold dishes were a prawn and crab cocktail with citrus and crème fraiche, marinated sea bass with lemon, fennel and green apple and a tomato, feta and watermelon summer salad. The warm dish was calamari with smoked paprika alioli. For our main course there was an option of lamb chops with mint salsa verde or sea bass with grapefruit and pak choy. This went alongside a vegetable lasagne and potato mash with herbs. The dessert was one of my favourite parts of the evening as we had a delicious buffet, including cherry gazpacho and ice cream, lemon meringue pie and a selection of cookies, brownies and macaroons. We were also lucky enough to have a midnight snack once the music had started. We chose to have mini hamburgers.”

“The catering and service was absolutely incredible. Everyone commented on how attentive they were throughout the whole day, which is exactly what I wanted to hear. They catered to every dietary requirement that was requested and couldn’t have asked for anymore.

It was a real honour for us to have one of our close friends DJ at our wedding. He played all of our favourite songs and it was the perfect end to our perfect day.”
