Today we have the pleasure of interviewing Demian, a saxophonist who is famed for both classical music and modern dance. He’s available to play solo and also works as a great duet. We spoke to Demian about how he became a saxophonist, his favourite type of music and what he thinks our bridal couples should consider when choosing the right music for their special day.

Hello Demian, thank you for chatting to us today. Your music is legendary on the Costa del Sol, as is your unique approach to playing the sax. When did you learn the world’s sexiest instrument and what made you want to play for a living?

I started studying the saxophone when I was ten years old. I already went to a school that had a great music focus, and as soon as I heard the sound of the sax I knew that it was the instrument for me. My parents are musicians too, so from a very young age I have been surrounded by music. I continued my studies professionally at music school with a variety of teachers. It wasn’t until I was playing at various gigs with a variety of bands locally (both in Córdoba and Argentina) that I realised it was what I wanted to do for a living. I have been playing saxophone professionally ever since.

The sax is such a unique and soulful instrument. What kind of music do you enjoy playing the most?

I love playing all sorts of music, although the music that really speaks to my soul and gives me the most satisfaction is Jazz, Funk and Smooth Jazz.

What three pieces of advice would you give to our destination bridal couples when it comes to choosing the right kind of entertainment for their wedding?

Think about what kind of music you want played at every part of your wedding in Spain. What are your favourite songs and styles of music? Then choose a band or musician that specialises in that.
Do your research and ensure that you pick a reputable entertainer who has good reviews and is trustworthy. You don’t want to be let down on your special day, so ensure that they come with recommendations and are experienced.
It’s important to choose a flexible musician, someone who can adapt themselves to the needs of the wedding. You never know what is going to happen on the day, so they need to be amenable.

If you could perform with any famous musician or singer, past or present, who would it be and why?

Maceo Parker. He has been one of my musical idols forever!

And lastly… You have performed at events and weddings all over Spain and the Costa del Sol. Tell us a funny story about a wedding you played at.

Every single wedding I perform at is different and unique in its own way, and they are always lots of fun. One of the funniest things to happen at a wedding was when the groom got so drunk that he did a striptease in front of everyone. He ended up completely naked, covering his private parts with nothing but a hat!
