Welcome back to another Sunshine Weddings Spain bridal story, where we share a closer look at the beautiful celebrations we’ve had the pleasure of planning across Mallorca and southern Spain.
Today, we’re taking you to the countryside just outside Marbella for Gemma and Joe’s wedding last August. If you’re considering a private estate that combines authentic Andalusian character with open views and flexible event spaces, this venue offers exactly that. Located within easy reach of Málaga Airport and the Costa del Sol coastline, it provides the feel of a secluded rural retreat while remaining convenient for travelling guests.
Set amongst rolling hills with views stretching towards the Mediterranean, the estate blends whitewashed architecture with rustic stone courtyards, landscaped gardens, and wide lawns framed by native trees. A central courtyard creates a natural gathering space for welcome drinks, while the gardens open out to panoramic countryside views — ideal for outdoor ceremonies and evening celebrations under the summer sky.
One of the venue’s standout features is its purpose-built amphitheatre, offering tiered seating with clear sightlines for wedding ceremonies. In addition, the property includes a traditional circular era — a historic threshing floor that has been thoughtfully restored and now provides a unique elevated setting for ceremonies or special moments during the day. Together, these spaces allow couples to shape the flow of their wedding in a way that feels both structured and relaxed.
Gemma and Joe chose this estate for its combination of character, privacy, and versatility — the perfect setting for a warm August celebration with family and friends gathered from near and far.
Join us as we look back on their wedding day and explore what a summer celebration at this Andalusian countryside estate can look like, from the first morning preparations to the final moments on the dancefloor.

Gemma and Joe chose to spend the morning of their wedding separately, giving themselves time to prepare with their closest friends and family before the celebrations began.
Gemma stayed at a nearby Airbnb close to the coast, where the bridal suite became a calm and organised space for the morning. Hair styling began early for the bridal party, followed by makeup setup shortly after. Bridesmaids rotated between hair and makeup appointments while music played in the background.
Florals were delivered and carefully stored in air-conditioned space before being handed to the bridal party. Gemma’s bouquet was kept safely aside until the final moments. As preparations continued, makeup for both mums was completed before attention turned to Gemma. Once ready, she shared a first look with her father — a private moment before leaving for the venue.
Destination wedding photographer Talia from Thoroughly Gorgeous arrived to capture the morning details, from the finishing touches of hair and makeup to candid moments between Gemma and her bridesmaids.
Meanwhile, Joe was getting ready nearby with his groomsmen. The mood was relaxed, with final outfit adjustments, buttonholes distributed, and group photographs taken before they departed together for the venue.
Behind the scenes, the Sunshine Weddings Spain team had already arrived at the countryside estate to oversee final setup. Cushions were placed neatly within the amphitheatre ceremony space, with three reserved chairs positioned close to the guitarist — two for Gemma’s grandparents and one for the musician. Space was also carefully left to accommodate a wheelchair guest comfortably.
Across the estate, final checks were carried out in the courtyard and garden areas. Parasols were positioned, ceremony details aligned, and suppliers coordinated to ensure a smooth flow from guest arrival through to the vows.
As coaches began collecting guests and the bridal car prepared to depart with Gemma and her bridal party, everything was in place for the ceremony to begin at the Andalusian estate, surrounded by gardens, whitewashed walls, and open countryside views.

Guests arrived by coach to the Andalusian estate in the late afternoon, greeted at the entrance arch by groomsmen Johny and Dave before being guided through the whitewashed courtyard and into the welcome area. The property’s layout naturally leads guests from the entrance into its central courtyard — a shaded space framed by stone walls, mature trees, and surrounding gardens.
As everyone stepped off the coaches, groomsmen Tim and Ben were on hand to assist with directing guests smoothly into the courtyard, meanwhile local Spanish guitarist, Nano, played soft ambient guitar music, creating a relaxed tone from the outset. Welcome drinks of sangria, beer, water, and soft drinks were served as guests gathered in the shade and took in the countryside views surrounding the estate.
As the ceremony time approached, Sunshine Weddings Spain coordinated with Joe, Don, and Nano, while Johny and Dave assisted with handheld parasols at the base of the steps leading up to the ceremony space. Once everything was ready, the rope was removed and guests were invited to make their way to the amphitheatre seating area.

The ceremony took place in the estate’s purpose-built amphitheatre — a tiered, open-air space designed to give every guest a clear view of the couple. The natural stone flooring and elevated seating created a structured setting, with open views stretching across the countryside and towards the coastline. Cushions were placed neatly on the stone benches for comfort, and white parasols were provided to shield guests from the afternoon sun — a practical addition that also complemented the neutral tones of the venue.
At the front of the space stood a circular floral arch, arranged with layered blooms in coral, blush, deep red and ivory tones, combined with textured greenery and pampas grass. The design framed the ceremony area without overwhelming it, allowing the surrounding landscape to remain visible. A simple ceremony table was positioned beneath the arch, keeping the focus on the couple. Overhead festoon lighting connected the amphitheatre visually to the reception terrace behind.
Guests were guided to their seats, and Johny personally escorted Gemma’s mum to her place. Before the bridal party entered, the wedding celebrant, Gareth, made a polite request for guests to refrain from taking photos or videos during the ceremony, encouraging everyone to remain present for the moment.
Behind the villa, the bridal party gathered for their entrance. The processional began with Heidi as flower girl, followed by Nicole, Danielle, Shauna, Caira and Leah. Their dresses complemented the warm tones within the floral arch, creating a cohesive overall look as they entered the amphitheatre.
Gemma then made her entrance with her father, Kevin. She wore a fitted lace gown with detailed embroidery and a soft train that moved naturally across the stone floor. A long veil added a classic finish, and her bouquet mirrored the arch florals — blending blush, ivory and richer seasonal shades with natural greenery.
Joe waited at the front wearing a light neutral suit paired with a crisp white shirt and coordinating boutonnière. His look was tailored but appropriate for the setting, balancing formality with the relaxed Andalusian backdrop.
With the villa’s white façade behind them and the countryside beyond, Gemma and Joe exchanged vows in a setting that combined structure with open views. The circular arch framed them clearly while keeping the focus on the ceremony itself.
Following the exit song, the couple walked back up through the amphitheatre as guests followed behind them towards the drinks reception. Guests were guided into shaded areas, allowing Gemma and Joe a few quiet moments at the top of the aisle before rejoining their family and friends for the next part of the day.

Following the ceremony exit, Gemma and Joe led guests back down through the grounds towards the drinks reception. The couple were briefly guided to the end of the pathway, allowing guests to move directly into the shaded courtyard areas before rejoining everyone for congratulations and photographs.
Guests were welcomed with a glass of cava, beer, water, or soft drinks as Nano began playing upbeat flamenco guitar, adding energy to the atmosphere. The courtyard and surrounding garden spaces worked perfectly for this part of the day — offering natural shade, open flow between areas, and plenty of room for guests to mingle comfortably.
Cold canapés were served first, followed by hot selections shortly after. Family photographs took place against the estate’s whitewashed walls and garden backdrops, with Danielle and Caira assisting in gathering guests according to the pre-prepared list.
As Nano concluded his set, background music began playing in the dinner area. Guests were invited through in stages, with gentle calls to encourage everyone to take their seats. While this transition took place, the Sunshine Weddings Spain team ensured Gemma and Joe were looked after, bringing a plate of canapés to them in a quieter lower section of the grounds so they could enjoy a moment together.
Before dinner formally began, all guests were served a fresh glass of cava in preparation for the couple’s entrance.

Dinner was set alongside the villa, making use of the estate’s open terrace space overlooking the countryside. Long tables created a clean and structured layout, complementing the venue’s rustic stone and whitewashed backdrop while maintaining a relaxed outdoor feel.
Danielle introduced Gemma and Joe from the back of the villa, welcoming them into dinner to warm applause from their guests.
Speeches followed shortly after. Gemma’s father, Kevin, spoke first, followed by Joe’s father, Noel. Best man Don continued, before Joe closed with his own speech — a meaningful part of the evening before the meal was served.
Guests were then offered a choice of red or white wine, beer, and water as starters were presented. A refreshing sorbet followed before the main course was served as the early evening light softened across the estate.
As dessert approached, the photobooth team arrived and began setting up along the wall of the amphitheatre, preparing for the evening celebrations ahead. The dinner concluded with dessert served at the tables, marking the transition from formal dining into the party atmosphere to come.

As dinner concluded, the energy naturally shifted towards the evening celebrations. The photobooth opened on the terrace below the amphitheatre, giving guests a fun space to gather and capture relaxed moments throughout the next few hours.
The open bar began inside, running throughout the night, while an uplifting playlist set the tone for the transition from dining to dancing.
One of the standout moments of the evening took place at ground level in the amphitheatre, where a cava tower was arranged for Gemma and Joe. As they poured the first glasses together, two pyrotechnic effects fired, and the amphitheatre lighting glowed in warm yellow tones — creating a strong visual moment before the party properly began.
Shortly after, Fuller began his live set, opening the dancefloor with Gemma and Joe’s first dance, accompanied again by pyrotechnics to mark the moment. From there, guests quickly joined them, filling the dancefloor and setting the pace for the rest of the night.
As darkness fell, glow sticks were handed out, adding to the party atmosphere. Later, the music and bar moved inside to the estate’s nightclub space, allowing celebrations to continue comfortably into the early hours.
As the evening drew to a close, Fuller made the final announcement for transport, and two coaches departed shortly after, returning guests safely to their accommodation after a full day of celebration.
