Luxury Villa Wedding in Marbella: How We Planned Joemil and Stu’s Magical Day…

We’re so excited to share Joemil and Stu’s wedding story today. Our featured couple first met in New York. Joemil is from Venezuela. Stu is from Great Britain. Essentially they were looking for a venue and ceremony that celebrated Venezuela, the U.S., Great Britain, and, of course, Spain.

We first spoke with this fantastic couple back in November 2018. They wanted to get married in Spain in April 2019, but logistics and timings meant that a visit to view wedding venues prior to making a booking would be tricky. Add several near-miss meet-ups to discuss wedding plans in person into the mix (London and New York, when Scott was visiting family… and bride and groom were so close, yet so far… in the same country but not quite in the same place!), and you have a very unique pre-wedding story; one which has truly endeared us to this couple.

We always prefer that our bridal couples have the opportunity to view potential wedding venues firsthand, prior to making a booking, but sometimes it simply isn’t possible. And so Joemil and Stu literally placed everything in our hands, but we worked closely with them via Skype calls, as well as sending videos, detailed photography, and thorough costings of the Marbella venue that best matched their requirements; a luxurious seven-bedroom frontline villa by the sea.

Finally, we got to meet on 18th December in Spain. We were equal parts nervous and excited to finally take Joemil and Stu to the villa that they’d booked without even visiting! But we knew immediately that they had fallen in love with it, and it was quite a magical moment to watch the realization unfold. It was just as wonderful to see Joemil strike up such a great rapport with Karen, the florist, who did a stellar job both in the run-up to the event, and on the Big Day, ensuring the couple’s floral vision was met in every way.

From villa visit, we went straight on to enjoy a fabulous food tasting which resulted in the most exquisite culinary experience on the wedding day…

Guests feasted on canapes of ceviche made with salmon, sea bass and octopus cured in lime, and spiced with chili, peppers, onion, salt and cilantro. A very big hit indeed! There was also a mouthwatering entree of pulled pork belly with radichio and hazelnut in a sherry dressing.

The main course was a delicious oven baked sea bass with roasted cauliflower, salchichon quinoa, aubergine caviar, pomegranate molasses, pistachios, griddled asparagus and lemon tahini yoghurt.

And to finish off there was a stunning trio of desserts; chocolate truffle cake, fruit salad, and crème brulee.

As we approached the wedding day, we knew the weather was slightly cooler than normal for the season, however, as the venue was by the beach, it was important to us that guests were comfortable and able to soak up the sea views in the luxurious surroundings of the garden. And so we cancelled the shading of the parasols and replaced them with some stunning open style roofing, allowing the perfect balance of shelter and fresh air. This change of feature also lent itself perfectly to some wonderful wedding styling: beautiful strings of fairy lights, giving everything a truly ethereal glow.

The day was a huge success, from the ceremony with Padre Peter, through to the great food and speeches, and then on into the evening reception when guests listened to Spanish music. Even after the last note was struck, and the early hours arrived, family and friends were still able to soak up the amazing atmosphere of the setting and continue to enjoy their drinks well into the night… and then onto Round Two: Next day’s barbecue!

Testimonials like this are the reason we love our jobs so much, and we couldn’t be happier to have played a small part in a couple’s special day:

“Thank you! With all honesty I can say we loved every second of our wedding day. I felt so thrilled, happy and excited when I saw all the decorations. I absolutely loved ALL of the flowers and how the centrepieces turned out. ‘I loved the relationship I formed with Karen; the way she works and communicates, and most importantly by the way everything turned out, she absolutely got me! I couldn’t have been happier! ‘The cake ALL went! Even the dolls of Stu and myself were happily eaten by my little three-year-old nephew who thoroughly enjoyed calling us over so we could watch him eat our noses, ears, arms, and heads lol. Literally, there was nothing left of that beautiful cake. ‘

Thanks again for everything! We absolutely had the time of our lives.”
