There are many stunning wedding venues in southern Spain, and one of our favourites is this spectacular Marbella wedding venue set in 36000m2 of lush gardens overlooking the breathtaking surrounding valley and the Mediterranean Sea.
Located in Benahavis, this stunning rustic villa comfortably sleeps 15 people in an interior space of 1200m2 with five double and four twin bedrooms plus attic room, and today’s bridal story whisks us to this dreamy setting, where, last September, Holly and Ross said “I do.”
On the last Monday of September 2021, Holly and Ross’ wedding guests were transferred in a 17 seater shuttle to this very hidden private retreat, where lush foliage shelters and lines a 300 metre long driveway before the old-world romantic hideaway is revealed giving that elusive wedding wow-factor on arrival.
Under a brilliant blue sky, the bride, looking simply stunning, made her entrance and, keeping to a Scottish theme, the homeland of many present at the wedding, Holly glided up the rose petal lined aisle to the timeless sound of highland bagpipes.
At the top of the aisle was a beautifully decorated wedding arbour covered in a delicate white fabric with two elegant white and pastel pink bouquets, the perfect arch for the bride and groom to stand under to say their vows, with the breathtaking Spanish countryside and clear blue skies the perfect backdrop.
After the moving vows were said and the rings exchanged, the couple, now as husband and wife, walked back down the aisle, once more to the sound of highland bagpipes, and joined their guests for the drinks reception and a selection of mouthwatering canapes including: Parmesan shortbreads with creamed feta and cherry tomatoes, spiced fishcakes with tomato and coriander salsa, herb chicken and prosciutto with alioli and mini cherry tomato and goats cheese tartlet.
Following on from that, the guests were invited to move to the back terrace area, near the outdoor seasonal swimming pool overlooking a spectacular view of the Marbella valley and the Mediterranean Sea, for the main course. There the wedding guests were offered a fantastic feast of typical Spanish cuisine including a choice of: Pan fried fillet of beef with dauphinoise potatoes, a red wine jus and mange tout or crispy duck confit with red cabbage thyme potato rosti and sweet quince jus and a heavenly lemon meringue pie and chocolate cheesecake for dessert.
Following on from the all-important speeches, bride, groom and guests made their way under the pergola for the first dance, there, in a lounge area that had been set up, all the guests were invited to continue the party late into the night to the catchy playlist put on my DJ Chica with five hours open bar that saw everyone through to 2:30am, including a midnight snack of pre-ordered pizzas that were be delivered to villa.
The following day all the wedding guests were invited back to the villa in Benahavis to enjoy a day by the pool, and whilst the sun shone they built up an appetite for a fun BBQ pool party, the icing on the cake to a truly amazing wedding celebration in Spain.
And a huge thank you to Holly and Ross for trusting and sharing your magical day with us. Every wedding is so beautifully unique and we wish you both a long and happy marriage. A huge gracias to Talia and Kevin too, who did a fantastic job snapping all the magical moments of the day.
