Spain Proposal, Spain Wedding: Danielle & Simon’s Love Story Part 1…

Today we meet one of our couples, Danielle and Simon, who got married in a stunning Hacienda in Mijas this June. A big thank you to Danielle for taking the time to share with us the details leading up to their big day.

On Bended Knee

Simon proposed to me at El Oceano hotel in La Cala de Mijas, a family run boutique hotel which we really love. It was very romantic and I had no idea it was going to happen. We decided to stay at the same hotel in the lead up to our wedding at the Hacienda, which was a lovely way to spend our last few days together before we became husband and wife.

Countryside Chic

We really wanted to do something different for our special day and as we had never been to a wedding abroad we thought we would give it a go It would also be a wonderful way to get all our friends and families together over a three day event, which we wouldn’t have been able to do in the UK. A destination wedding would enable us all to make wonderful memories that would last a lifetime. Another personal reason for choosing Spain for our wedding celebration, was that this it was a place my dad loved and as he is no longer with us, it was a little nod to him.

As soon as we visited the Hacienda in Mijas we both fell in love with it and booked it more or less straight away. We liked the fact that we could have all our close friends and family staying with us at the venue over the three days. The essence of this country retreat is a feeling of relaxation, comfort and being surrounded by nature, all whilst enjoying first class amenities. The spacious master suite with a large terrace overlooking the pool and a mirador with 360 degrees panoramic views of both the beautiful Spanish countryside and the’sparkling coastline was perfect for getting ready on the day with my bridal party. Family and friends stayed in the nine other suites all individually designed with private terraces and views of the’tropical grounds, countryside and golf courses beyond.

The venue was pretty and very authentically Spanish, which was exactly what we both wanted for our wedding day. I love the beach but I didn’t want sand in-between my toes on my wedding day to be honest. The grounds of the Hacienda are ideal for outdoor weddings with large expanses of grass, tropical flowers, fruit trees and the most breathtaking views that the Costa del Sol’ has to offer. What’s not to love?

The A Team

I was looking on the internet for weddings in Spain and I came across Sunshine Weddings and contacted them about helping plan our wedding. I am so thankful that I did as they helped make the wedding as seamless as possible

Gloss & Glamour

I would say my style was more of a romantic/elegant look. My dress was from Amorae in Ongar. It was beautifully embellished on the top half, while the skirt was light and floaty, perfect for the Spanish heat I love makeup and the ‘au natural’ look isn’t really my style so I knew I wanted to look super glam on my wedding day. My makeup artist Nicola McGeorge created a rose gold smokey eye, which she complemented with bronzed glowing skin and a brownish nude lip. My makeup was just amazing and it stayed on all day and night. For my hair, Jacob from Golden Tarts created a low, side side bun with a lot of volume. The overall look was one of classic elegance which worked perfectly with my dress,

My bridesmaid was my beautiful niece Ava, who wore a stunning, delicately appliqued taupe and cream sheer gown from Debra in Chigwell. Simon went for a three piece suit, his trousers and waistcoat were beige and his jacket was lilac tweed, tailor made by Roy Cain in Epping, Essex.
