If you’ve ever dreamt of a rustic wedding surrounded by the beauty of the Spanish countryside, Millie and Josh’s wedding at a stunning ten-bedroom traditional hacienda in the foothills of Mijas Costa, Andalusia, is the perfect inspiration.
Imagine exchanging vows in the heart of the Spanish countryside, with panoramic views of lush landscapes and the sparkling coastline. This magnificent hacienda, featured in today’s bridal story, set the stage for Millie and Josh’s celebration, providing guests with 360º vistas of rugged mountain ranges against the Mediterranean. Whilst guests were welcomed with sparkling champagne or refreshing beer, water and fresh barley, the tropical blooms and sprawling lawns created a picturesque setting for a moment of relaxed mingling, accompanied by the soulful strums of Spanish guitarist, Nano, playing traditional flamenco melodies.
The wedding ceremony unfolded on the front lawn, where the 120 guests, who had flown in especially for the occasion, settled under the shade of elegant balinese umbrellas. The bridal entrance was marked by the playlist’s rendition of “A Thousand Years.”
The ceremony area was adorned with a simple yet elegant touch—flowers in creams and whites, including gypsophila and white hydrangea. The theme followed a bohemian vibe, with the ceremony table draped in white fabric and flanked by two flower stands, setting the scene for a chic and intimate celebration.
Gareth, a locally-based wedding minister, conducted a straightforward yet meaningful ceremony. The bride, radiant in her heart-shaped bridal dress, and the groom, handsome in a classic black and white tuxedo, were united as husband and wife, a moment complemented by guitarist Nano’s musical touch during the signing.
The exit, accompanied by “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” brought an energetic vibe and signalled the shift from formalities to celebration.
The drinks reception kicked off on the upper side lawn with a spread of canapes, including garlic and herb bruschetta, potato and onion tortilla, beef carpaccio sandwich, spicy prawn fritta, and mozzarella tartlet. As guests enjoyed these tasty bites, family photos were captured by the talented Rebecca Davidson.
Nano kept the party vibe alive with his last set of ambient guitar playing before the first call for dinner and guests then made their way to the rear garden, where an elegant set-up awaited them for the wedding breakfast.
Millie and Josh’s wedding menu was a delightful blend of Spanish and international flavours. From a champagne tower replacing the traditional wedding cake to tantalising starters where guests had the choice between golden breadcrumb-coated brie topped with applesauce on a bed of beetroot dressed with Cumberland sauce or gambas pil pil in a sizzling garlic and chilli oil with Spanish sun-dried tomato olive bread. Moving on to mains, the options included fillet of seared beef served medium on a bed of creamy pumpkin, roasted spring onion, baby carrot, and confit potatoes, or serrano-wrapped chicken breast stuffed with herbed mascarpone.
Wrapping up the meal, the dessert trio featured summer fruit and kiwi pavlova, tangy Spanish lemon tart, and rich chocolate tart before it was time for the guests to hit the dance floor.
The lower courtyard became a vibrant party haven with DJ Fuller and Roberto on sax at the helm. They set the stage for an unforgettable celebration, starting with the couple’s first dance to “Tenerife Sea” by Ed Sheeran. Fuller kicked off the beat, seamlessly handing over to Roberto to infuse an upbeat rhythm and ignite the party. As the night unfolded, guests enjoyed late-night snacks just before midnight, savouring mini pizzas and hamburgers. Adding to the festivities, a photo booth captured fun moments amidst the lively atmosphere. It was a perfect way to cap off an amazing day with an equally amazing night of celebration.
The fun didn’t end there; it continued the following day with a relaxed BBQ party back at the hacienda, where more cherished moments were created, making it the perfect finale to a weekend of wedding celebrations.
A big thank you to Millie and Josh for sharing your special day with us. The whole team at Sunshine Weddings wishes you a lifetime of happiness and love. A shout out to the fantastic Rebecca Davidson for sharing these wonderful images.
