If you’re trying to find your dream rustic wedding venue in Spain, set in the Spanish countryside, then read on to get a feel for what your dream day could be like…

Today’s bridal story is set in the picturesque foothills of Mijas Costa in Spain’s Andalucia, in a 10 bedroomed Hacienda which can accommodate 25 guests, with an additional 10,000 square metres of space to hold a magical wedding day.

The villa is located just 20 minutes transport from one of Spain’s busiest international airports, yet it maintains the authentic Spanish ambiance, and there, to end the 2021 wedding season on a high note, the fabulous Ashley and Tyler—and stars of today’s bridal story—were joined as husband and wife.

Ashley and Tyler, contacted the Sunshine Weddings Spain team in lockdown early last year. Given that international travel was limited due to covid restrictions, it was suggested that, as Ashley and Tyler lived in Seattle, they should hold off booking anything until the situation cleared. However they insisted on paying a deposit, wanting to move forward with an October wedding.

Ashley and Tyler’s positive attitude paid off as when October came around, travel restrictions had been lifted and they were able to enjoy a week of wedding celebrations in the sunshine together with their whole wedding party who all flew in from Seattle.

The festivities kick-started two days before the big day, with a fabulous pre-wedding dinner organised at a trendy beach club with a terrace overlooking the town of Cala de Mijas. There everyone enjoyed a Mediterranean style buffet and a two hour long cocktail hour.

The pre-wedding party was followed by a day of chilling at the Hacienda in great company before the big day arrived.

Finally it was time for the magical day to commence. The bride looked simply stunning in her elegant slip wedding dress as she made her way up the aisle to the outdoor wedding altar. There she was united with the groom, who looked the most dashing in his smart black tux.

With spectacular views to the rugged mountain-ranges that surround the finca, Ashley and Tyler, were joined as husband and wife by one of their friends who officiated the ceremony, making the moment all the more special.

Once the vows were said and the rings exchanged, the newlyweds then made their way back down the aisle and joined their guests on the upper side lawn, rich with tropical flowers. There the wedding party enjoyed an unparalleled view of the beautiful Spanish countryside and the sparkling coastline whilst sipping on cava, accompanied all the while by a Spanish guitarist who played traditional flamenco music. A place where a range of delicious hot and cold canopies were served.

Following on from that, the Spanish guitarist, Nano, continued softly strumming flamenco-style music as the newlyweds enjoyed their photo session at the hands of the talented Nora.

The main course was then held in the rear garden, in a tropical space overlooking the outdoor swimming pool as the main feature. There the wedding guests were offered a fantastic spread of fillets of sea bass, warm Catalan vegetable salad, prawn top and piquillo pepper coulis with sautéed potatoes as one choice or serrano wrapped chicken breast stuffed with herbed mascarpone topped with fried onion strings as another delicious option. And then for dessert, the guests were offered a choice of sweet churros rolled in cinnamon sugar, rich chocolate brownie with orange coulis topped with caramelised orange or tangy Spanish lemon tart with vanilla crème topped with lemon zest. A feast fit for a king (and Queen)!

The meal was finished off with the most stunning wedding cake made by cake baker extraordinaire Louise and from there the guests were invited to the lower courtyard, which had been decorated with minimalist lighting which added an intimate charm to the night. There commencing with the first dance, a great night ensured at the hands of Pedro DJ and his catchy playlist. And, as an additional surprise to the couple, saxophonist Demian was brought in to take the party to the next level.

The following day, Ashley and Tyler, together with all their guests returned to the Hacienda for a BBQ and a day chilling by the pool. Approximately 40 guests were able to share this fairy-tale event with the wonderful bridal couple who we thank for sharing their special day with us.
