Romantic villa wedding Mijas| Destination wedding in Andalucia

Back

There is nothing more enjoyable than planning a wedding in Spain for a couple that bring with them a mix of backgrounds, traditions and culture, as we were fortunate to organise last October for the lovely Aster from China and her fiance Tommy from Ireland.

Because they have friends and family from all around the world, the couple decided they would have their big day abroad, somewhere with sunshine 99% guaranteed and easy access, which the Costa del Sol—thanks to its excellent motorway network and close vicinity of Malaga international airport—has.

So after agreeing on an early autumn wedding, the fun task of hunting for the perfect venue began.

The Costa del Sol boasts some truly special wedding venues, from fantastic beach Clubs and hotels to small private villas…and everything in between, though sometimes being spoiled for choice can make selecting the right wedding venue overwhelming.

Fortunately, after 20 years of planning experience, the Sunshine Wedding Team can get a feel for what a bridal couple is looking for from the early days of communication, and it soon became clear to us that Aster and Tommy’s ideal venue would be somewhere slightly off the beaten track, but close enough to vibrant Costa del Sol and it’s miles of sun-kissed beaches, wide range of restaurants, terraces and cafes.

Boasting stunning gardens and set in the tranquil Andalucian mountains, just five minutes from the beach, we knew that our flagship wedding venue in Mijas would be exactly what Aster and Tommy were dreaming of.

The private villa has a pretty pool area, internal patios, bedrooms larger than most Honeymoon suites, with enough rooms to sleep up to 25 guests, and is only half an hour from Malaga airport. What’s more this wedding venue, which rapidly became Aster and Tommy dream venue, is situated in the beautiful Entrerrios Mijas hills, surrounded by golf courses, greenery and other luxury villas—and a stone’s throw away from Mijas Pueblo, one of the prettiest villages in Costa del Sol, blessing in the sunshine and filled with pretty winding streets ready to be explored.

There, on the grounds of this¡ typical Spanish Hacienda, on a balmy afternoon last October, the magic unfolded.

Following a welcome drink enjoyed at the sweeping entrance area of this rustic estate, Aster and Tommy’s wedding guests were invited to be seated in the lush gardens for the enchanted wedding ceremony to commence.

Surrounded by some 120 friends and family and to the iconic ceremonial music “The Ecstasy Of Gold” on classical guitar beautifully played by local guitarist Nano, the emotive wedding nuptials, led by minister Jeff, saw the union of Chinese and Irish cultures as Aster and Tommy were joined in holy matrimony.

In this enviable garden setting, as the guests enjoyed a delectable selection of hot and cold canapes, the talented wedding photographer Isabel Benchetrit was able to capture the elegance and glamour that enveloped this beautiful couple, especially Aster who looked truly radiant in her red cultural dress.

This Spanish Hacienda boasts several areas that can be used throughout the day, and in the rear garden overlooking the turquoise swimming pool dinner was served. In this dreamy space, Aster and Tommy, together with their wedding guests, enjoyed a magnificent spread in comfort and style.

Before night fell, Aster and Tommy were whisked away by Isabel Benchetrit for some magical pre-sunset photos before joining their guests on the dance floor for their first dance, “Shut up and dance with me” by Walk the Moon, before the hugely talented Costa del Sol music band Monkey Tennis took over and ensured that the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed an unforgettable party under the starry Spanish sky.

A big Gracias to Isabel Benchetrit for the use of these incredible images. And a huge thank you to Aster and Tommy as well for sharing your magical day with us. On behalf of the Sunshine team, we wish you both well as you embark on this next chapter of life.
