Wedding villa Mijas – Bridal story

Let’s take a stroll down memory lane and reminisce about one of the unforgettable weddings we had the honour of organising at the end of last season; a spectacular event which unfolded at this very wedding location in the Mijas region.

The lovely bridal couple, Kamilah and Jack, chose this picturesque setting, enveloped by lush golf courses, verdant foliage, and neighbouring luxury villas, to say “I do.” Read on as we outline the highlights of their special day.

Pre-Wedding Festivities – Night before fiesta

The evening before the wedding kicked off with a laid-back gathering at the hacienda. The bridal couple and their closest friends enjoyed a pre-wedding paella party featuring an Andalusian traditional mixed paella. Alongside, guests indulged in a simple salad buffet offering three options: baby beef and sundried tomato salad, summer salad leaves with dressings, and chopped Arabic salad with fresh mint, parsley, toasted pitta strips, and pomegranate molasses. There, the outdoor, poolside bar area provided a relaxed vibe for the commence of a weekend of festivities, where the fun had just begun!

The Wedding Day – At a Luxurious Cortijo Spain

On a sunny Saturday last September, friends and family gathered to witness the much-anticipated union of Kamilah and Jack in Spain. As guests arrived at the traditional hacienda, they were warmly welcomed with refreshing drinks, accompanied by the soothing melodies of a local guitarist, Nano. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, setting the perfect tone for the day’s festivities. Meanwhile guests mingled and chattered, Cristina, the on the ground wedding planner from Sunshine Weddings Spain, ensured that Kamilah and her bridal party felt supported and at ease as they prepared for the ceremony in the bridal suite.

Amidst the chatter and laughter of guests mingling on the lawn, anticipation filled the air. Soon, it was time to transition to the upper side garden where the magical ceremony awaited.

The Ceremony – Sun-Drenched Garden Setting

The ceremony area offered panoramic views of the rugged mountain ranges surrounding the finca, setting a breathtaking backdrop for Kamilah and Jack’s heartfelt vows. There, amidst the sun-drenched garden, a stunning floral archway made of yvonne bamboo framed the scene, creating a serene and picturesque setting for their vows to be exchanged.

Nano’s gentle strumming of romantic melodies set the tone as the ceremony began, overseen by the locally based, English speaking minister, Jeff. Jeff led a heartfelt yet non-religious ceremony, guiding the couple through their exchange of vows and rings with warmth and sincerity. As the ceremony drew to a close, Nano transitioned into playing a lively Gypsy Kings song, signalling the end of the formalities and the start of the celebratory festivities.

Cocktail hour – In a Fairy-Tale Atmosphere

Following the heartfelt ceremony, the celebration of Kamilah and Jack’s wedding day continued in a fairy-tale atmosphere, abundant with delicious food and drinks. Guests were treated to a variety of cocktails and a generous selection of canapes, featuring both cold and hot options. The cold canapes included paprika, garlic, and chilli prawns served in canapé spoons, while the hot options featured baby smokey chorizo and seared beef drizzled with balsamic truffle oil. Additionally, guests enjoyed potato and onion tortilla with saffron aioli served on elegant forks.

Throughout the festivities, Nano’s uplifting music on the upper lawn added to the celebratory ambiance, setting the perfect tone for the occasion, serenading the guests as they mingled and chatted. Meanwhile, popular wedding photographer Issy Benchetrit was hard at work capturing priceless moments of the couple, their loved ones, and the overall celebration. With a keen eye for detail and a talent for capturing candid moments, Issy ensured that every special moment was preserved, allowing the couple to cherish these priceless moments of their wedding day for years to come.

The wedding breakfast – Al Fresco Dining

Following the ceremony, the wedding guests transitioned to the back garden where the wedding breakfast awaited. Set against the backdrop of a stunning turquoise pool and the expansive lush green gardens of the property, the scene was picturesque.

The meal commenced with a delectable slate of tapas to share between two for starters, featuring fillets of sea bass, warm Catalan vegetable salad, prawn top and piquillo pepper coulis, accompanied by confit potatoes. For the main course, guests had the choice between serrano wrapped chicken breast stuffed with herbed mascarpone topped with fried onion strings or roast chicken jus with summer vegetables and confit potatoes.

To conclude the meal, a trio of desserts was served, including crema Catalana, tangy Spanish lemon tart, and churros rolled in cinnamon sugar.

As the sun gradually descended below the horizon, casting a warm golden glow, photographer Issy seized the opportunity to capture some pre-sunset photos of the bridal couple strolling through the venue’s lush grounds during the golden hour. Issy’s lens immortalised the couple amid the picturesque setting, ensuring that every moment was preserved in striking detail.

As the photo session drew to a close, guests began to kick off their shoes and hit the dance floor, signalling the start of the evening’s festivities. An energetic vibe filled the air as friends and family gathered to dance and celebrate the newlyweds’ love.

The Party – Courtyard Fiesta

In the lower courtyard, minimalist lighting added an intimate charm to the night as guests gathered to witness the couple’s first dance to “Flash of Light” by Roisin Murphy. The mood shifted as a friend of the couple took over the DJ duties, spinning a lively playlist that kept the party going strong until the early hours, ending a magical wedding day – but not the weekend festivities.

The day after, Kamilah and Jack, along with all their guests, gathered once again at the Hacienda for a relaxed BBQ and poolside hangout extending the wedding celebration to a third day.

We extend our gratitude to Kamilah and Jack’s for sharing their fairy-tale event with us and for trusting us with the vision of their special day.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Shona for providing the beautiful wedding flowers, to Lorraine for her expertise in wedding hair and makeup, and to cake designer Louise for crafting the delicious 2-tier vanilla and raspberry cake with lemon curd and lemon buttercream. Lastly, we are immensely grateful to Issy for capturing these incredible images, allowing us to showcase an unforgettable day at this stunning rustic wedding venue in Mijas.
