Have you ever pictured your wedding day in southern Spain, with magnificent mountain views and a glimpse of the sparkling sea in the distance?
Join us as we take a closer look at what it’s like to tie the knot in the charming setting of Mijas, within an exclusive venue, as we reflect back on Amy and Eric’s wedding day. We’ll explore the simple yet beautiful moments that made their celebration unique and memorable.
Amy and Eric’s wedding unfolded in a lavish hacienda nestled in the Mijas mountains of southern Spain. The day commenced with Andreas Holm, the skilled photographer, documenting the pre-wedding moments. Amy’s preparations for her big day were beautifully captured as she was surrounded by her close-knit group, with makeup and hair specialists working their magic.
Guests were welcomed on the front lawn, where local flamenco artist, Jesus, serenaded them with his guitar, creating a relaxed and inviting atmosphere and refreshing drinks, including sangria, beer, and orange juice, were served to keep everyone cool on a warm September day.
As the groomsmen, Noel and Shane, stood at the entrance to the grand country house and warmly greeted the arriving guests—many of whom had flown in especially for the occasion—Andreas captured an emotional first look picture of Amy with her father, immortalising the heartwarming moment.
The ceremony took place on the front lawn, with six seats on either side of the open-air aisle and the most breathtaking views of the Costa del Sol as a backdrop. The grounds of the Hacienda were ideal for an outdoor wedding, with tropical flowers, fruit trees, and plenty of space.
Gemma Leonard, the music director, cued the entrance song, “Band of Horses – Nobody’s Gonna Love You,” while guests waited in eager anticipation for the arrival of the beautiful bride. Amy, stunning in her form-fitting trumpet-style bridal gown and accompanied by her father, gracefully made her way down the aisle and took her place beside the dashing groom, as the heartfelt ceremony, officiated by Minister Jeff, began.
The pleasant September sunshine enveloped the outdoor event in a comforting warmth. As the ceremony approached its conclusion, bridesmaids distributed rose petals to the nearest seats along the aisle, creating a charming rose petal shower. This lovely moment marked the newlyweds’ exit, set to the tune of “Mumford and Sons – Not with Haste,” and served as a cue for Jeff to invite everyone to join the couple for the drinks reception on the upper lawn.
The reception commenced with a generous selection of refreshments, featuring water, cava, beer, sangria, and orange juice, complemented by a diverse choice of cold and hot canapés. As everyone savoured the moment, Jesus continued to provide the perfect musical backdrop and family photos were taken by Andreas, capturing the festive atmosphere and happy faces.
The cocktail hour seamlessly transitioned into a sumptuous dinner in the rear garden, where guests enjoyed their meal with a view of the pool and mountain scenery. There, Eric kicked off the speeches with a Cava toast, and guests had a choice of Cava, wines, beers, and water. As the speeches concluded, the buffet station opened, offering dishes like chicken breast skewers, Mediterranean vegetable skewers, and mixed paella.
As the evening shifted into the golden hour, Andreas captured pre-sunset photos of the newlyweds, including a memorable shot taken from the hacienda’s bell tower as the sun set behind the mountains. Following this, a delectable dessert was served, featuring a delightful mango mousse with passion fruit topping, a wafer tower, and tropical fruit tartar.
The party kicked into high gear in the lower courtyard, where an open bar and DJ Bodas created an electrifying atmosphere. The first dance was set to Dermot Kennedy’s “Blossom,” and the courtyard filled with lively dancing and celebration.
Late-night snacks of pizzas and mini hamburgers kept the energy high as the night wore on and the celebration continued until 1:30 am when a shuttle bus safely transported all the guests to their nearby accommodations.
Mijas, with its genuine Spanish charm, provided the ideal backdrop for this exceptional day, where Amy and Eric, surrounded by their loved ones, celebrated an unforgettable moment.
We thank the bridal couple for sharing their special day with us and wish them all the best in this next chapter of their life. Special thanks to Andreas Holm for providing these stunning images that will serve as lasting memories of a truly unforgettable wedding day.
