American Couple’s Elopment In Spain…

There’s nothing more romantic than a couple eloping to Spain for their wedding day. Call us old fashioned, but at Sunshine Weddings Spain we believe marriage is more than just a party and a chance to show off to all your friends. We believe marriage is more than the wedding, it’s about two people madly in love saying ‘I Do’ and ‘I Will’ forever and always to one another. And that is exactly what Chelsea and William, our wonderful bride and groom from the USA, did.

When the wedding couple contacted us they explained how they wanted to escape to Europe for their elopement, and quickly realized that the south of Spain had everything they wanted in a romantic get-away. They had never visited Europe before and were really looking forward to immersing themselves in the romance and excitement of the southern Spanish coast, with its quaint charm and villages steeped in culture and history.

For the Chelsea and William it was all about being together, alone, and focusing on their love for one another. On their first night in Spain they stayed in Malaga, the ideal city for a couple to enjoy time together. They went for sunny walks along the marina, rode a horse drawn carriage through the winding streets and took in the sights of the cathedral, the Picasso museum and the large array of amazing tapas restaurants and bars.

Then we, at Sunshine Weddings Spain, spent a few days finalizing the wedding day with them. The wonderfully quirky Padre Peter had been booked to conduct the ceremony and we organised the bride’s flowers, hair and make-up. The night before the wedding day the couple stayed in Mijas, the white-washed village perched on the Andalucian hills, overlooking spectacular scenery of countryside and the bright blue sea beyond. Their ceremony was held at a Mijas Beach Club, which had a newly built promenade and access to the beach – allowing for David Toms the photographer to capture some beautiful sunset shots. Danny, our videographer, was also on hand to capture their special day so that friends and family back home could relive Chelsea and William’s big moment.

After a quiet meal together the gorgeous new husband and wife took off for the rest of their Spanish adventure and enjoyed their honeymoon seeing the other great places the Spanish coast has to offer. An elopement in Spain is the perfect way to say ‘I do’ for couples wanting a simple but exciting escape to a part of the world full of culture, history, amazing scenery…and of course there’s always plenty of romance!
