A beach wedding itself means saying “I do” with the warm sand beneath your feet and the love of your life staring deeply into your eyes as waves lightly crashing in the distance—I mean, is it possible to get more of a lovey-dovey set-up than that?!

Let’s face it, beach weddings will never be outdated or boring and they are one of the most romantic options to say “Si quiero” as it’s hard to outmatch the natural setup of breathtaking stretches of sea and sand beneath sunny blue skies.

Beach weddings represent the ultimate romance and are incredibly popular. Additionally, the abundance of natural decorations at these sought-after venues also make beach weddings simple to set up. And it was at a romantic beach wedding in Marbella, that the fabulous bridal couple, Sonia and Jesse from Finland, recently got hitched.

The bridal couple had originally planned to get married in the summer of 2020, but, for obvious reasons, had to postpone. A new date was set, the first Friday of October, when the weather in Malaga is still gloriously warm and the sun doesn’t set until after 7pm.

This couple had looked for a venue with a laid back style, directly on the beach, a place where they could have their ceremony on the sand followed by exclusive use of the beach venue for a relaxed yet stunning wedding reception to share with their nearest and dearest.

As the guests arrived in a 55 seater coach, they were greeted to the sound of the accomplished musician Nano who played ambient guitar music, as welcome drinks of Aperol Spritz with lemonade or still water were offered around.

Then as the guests were invited to take their seats down by the beachfront, Nano played uplifting flamenco, keeping in line with the Spanish style beach setting.

A very casual and laid-back wedding ceremony ensued at the hands of Humanist Minister Jeff Gruner, who was in charge of joining Sonia and Jesse as man and wife as the sun set on a spectacular mid-autumn day.

Following the casual, yet meaningful marriage ceremony, the newlyweds joined their guests, for a choice of wines, water and beer and a selection of delectable aperitifs including: pumpkin cream with coconut, Balinese-style prawns, and seafood croquettes, and from there they were all invited to sit down and enjoy a typical Spanish paella as the main dish, with a choice of white chocolates and black forest cake with red fruit for dessert.

A Spanish styled wedding, which saw Sonia and Jesse enjoy their first dance to Jah Cure’s “All of me.” followed by over four hours of an open bar and plenty of fun at the hands of DJ Dave James, who did a great set and entertained the wedding guests with his catch playlist. Everyone partied hard—in true Scandinavian style—until 2:30 am.
