Iconic wedding venue Mallorca

Mallorca has an amazing range of fabulous venues for weddings and events and one that stands out for its spectacular sea and sunset views is the beautiful white temple of Son Marroig, a hidden gem, located on a clifftop between the villages of Valldemossa and Deià.

This beautiful white temple with its breathtaking backdrop of mountains, sea and stunning sunset views is perhaps the most iconic wedding venue in Mallorca.

In fact the stunning location, with its emblematic manor, is listed as a UNESCO Heritage Site and has unique facilities for holding events, including the famous marble gazebo lookout point with dramatic ocean views.

And it was at this dream location where Rhiannon and David recently tied the knot.

We recently caught up with the bridal couple for their thoughts on their magical day of celebrations.

What qualities were you searching for in a wedding planner?

I don’t think we really knew what to expect when working with a wedding planner. We’re quite a laid back couple and we didn’t want to feel overwhelmed by the wedding and making decisions didn’t come very naturally. We were so lucky that Justine and Maia caught onto this early on as they didn’t push us to do anything but made some really great suggestions. Even our suppliers helped us make the best decisions and were so helpful and friendly. I felt like I’d known Justine and Maia for years. I honestly couldn’t recommend them enough!

Why Son Marroig and what did you most love about this wedding venue?

We came across the venue randomly online and instantly fell in love with it. We booked it without going to view it and for a few months we questioned whether the venue existed! We finally made it out to view the venue in October 2019. Although it was dry, the weather wasn’t the best but the venue was still unbelievable. We have the most amazing photos and the sun set as we were having dinner. It was stunning. Our guests are still talking about how incredible it was.

Just Married in Spain.
Getting married is a very special occasion, has it been made even more memorable because of the challenges brought on by covid?

We were originally due to get married in October 2020 but had to postpone due to the pandemic, but the team at Sunshine Weddings Spain kept us at ease throughout, providing us with regular updates and even liaising with our suppliers to postpone to October 21.

Although not all of our guests made the journey due to Covid, I think the fact we couldn’t travel for so long definitely made the experience a lot better. Our guests, all from Wales, stayed out for much longer and we just had a great day and week with all our guests. The weather was fantastic and it was also a break we all needed.

A stunning location with unique facilities for holding events.

From the moment we made contact with Sunshine Weddings, we had nothing but an exceptional experience.

The day itself was amazing from start to finish. We really enjoyed the relaxed nature of our whole day. The hair and makeup artist Laura, was so lovely and put me [Rhiannon] at ease, whilst Dave and the rest of the wedding party relaxed by the pool.  Myself and the bridesmaids arrived at the venue first for some photos which gave us a chance to just relax into the rest of the day.

The rest of our guests all arrived together on a bus. Myself and David did a first look which gave us the perfect opportunity to get 10 minutes to ourselves on the day. It was so nice to just spend even 10 minutes of time together. The weather could not have been more perfect during our ceremony. We had perfect blue skies and our celebrant Toni had everyone laughing from start to finish with his personalised ceremony. Delicioso did an amazing job with the food and drinks service throughout the whole day and were so accommodating. Everything was just perfect from the setting, to the food, to the flowers and decoration by Olivia Alexander. We were lucky to have the most perfect sunset whilst everybody was having dinner, and as soon as the music started, everyone was up on their feet all night. The night ended with a good old Welsh sing song!
