Today’s bridal story takes us to perhaps one of the most the most luxurious Spanish cortijos in the region. Set in the picturesque foothills of Mijas Costa you can find a stunning ten bedroom traditional hacienda, which not only allows you to take your vows surrounded by peace and tranquillity, but also an oasis to stay in with your nearest and dearest on the run up to your big day.

A white linen draped wedding arch surrounded by lush green gardens and swaying palm trees.

The grounds of the Hacienda are rich with tropical flowers, large expanses of grass, and the most breathtaking views that the Costa del Sol has to offer, and there on a glorious spring day, the last Friday of May, the radiant Lianne with the dashing Glen were joined as husband and wife.

And the magic of the day unfolded in the most perfect and singular way as we are about to discover…

Welcome Drink—On the front Lawn with panoramic views of both the beautiful Spanish countryside and the sparkling coastline.

In a space that offers 360º views of rustic Spanish countryside and the shimmering Mediterranean sea, the guests gathered and enjoyed the sound of ambient guitar music at the hands of accomplished Spanish guitarist, Nano, whilst sipping on a refreshing glass of sangria, beer, water or lemon Fanta.

The Ceremony—a white linen draped wedding arch surrounded by lush green gardens and swaying palm trees.

There in the same space that the guests had enjoyed a welcome drink, a wedding arch draped with floating white linen had been set up creating a great eye-catching wedding decor. The surrounding verdant green garden added to the fairy-tale vibe of the ceremony set-up and with the warm sun’s rays shining down, the setting couldn’t have been more perfect.

The bridesmaids in stunning burnt orange satin dresses and groomsmen in elegant beige suits led the wedding procession down the aisle, where they then stood on respective sides facing the aisle for the ceremony to commence.

Then it was time for the bride, looking breathtaking in a sweetheart wedding dress to make her much anticipated entrance and walk down the aisle to “Kissing You” by Des’ree. There by the whimsical white wedding arch she joined the groom looking debonair and handsome in his smart, yet casual, beige trouser, white shirt with brown waistcoat outfit.

There they were joined in matrimony in a beautiful wedding ceremony led by humanist minister Jeff Gruner.

After a romantic recessional dance to the 80s classic Fleetwood Mac – Everywhere, Lianne and Glen, now as husband and wife joined their guests on the upper side lawn, surrounded by lush expanses of grass, and stunning views of the glittering coastline, for some refreshments and a selection of three cold and three hot canopies including: Buckwheat blinis with Japanese mayonnaise, smoked salmon and sprouting onion seeds as well as canapé spoons of paprika, garlic & chilli prawns and baby smokey chorizo, all the while enjoying an uplifting flamenco guitar set by Nano, whilst the ladies of the wedding party cooled themselves with some elegant orange and green hand fans that had been handed out on arrival.

The grounds have multiple spaces for stunning photo opportunities.
The Wedding Breakfast—with chic white rustic wedding table decor.

With a top table beautifully decorated with elegant white table décor the newlyweds were seated as were their guests in the grounds private garden area, a relaxed location for all to enjoy the wedding breakfast in comfort and style. There in this idyllic space everyone was treated to a choice of delicious fillets of sea bass, warm Catalan vegetable salad, prawn top and piquillo pepper coulis with sautéed potatoes or rolled slow cooked Spanish beef “Steak” filled with seasonal vegetables in Rioja and confit potatoes. And to finish off this mouthwatering feast crema Catalana with a crunchy caramel topping or tangy Spanish lemon tart with vanilla crème topped with lemon zest.

Fun cake-cutting moment as night falls.
After Dinner—a magical evening swinging to a catchy playlist

As night fell, an even more romantic scene unfolded with fairy light curtains coming into play adding a touch of magic to the already charming setting, but before the after dinner party really kicked off with a first dance to Miguel’s version of “Adorn”, the bridal couple were whisked up to the tower above the bridal suite, a majestic place which allows for sweeping 360º views of the grounds, the surrounding area, sea and mountains and of course for a stunning photo opportunity which was taken at the hands of the talented Isabel Benchetrit.

The romantic first dance.

Afterwhich, newlyweds and guests, an international, fun crowd, enjoyed five hours of open bar and non-stop music to 70’s/80’s Funk & Disco, as well as some fun with a Magic Mirror and late night snacks, which saw everyone through to 1:30am sealing the most magical of days.

A big Gracias to Isabel Benchetrit for the use of these incredible images. And a huge thank you to Lianne and Glen for sharing your magical day with us. Wishing you well as you embark on this next chapter of life.
