Today we are thrilled to be back writing about what we most love doing, organising the ceremony and celebrations of newlyweds in destination wedding venues in Spain.
After a year of uncertainties due to covid, it was finally the turn of the beautiful bridal couple, Lesa and Dean, to say “I do” in paradise.
On a glorious summer’s afternoon, in one of the most privileged locations in the mountains of Malaga, Lesa and Dean became husband and wife in a stylish ceremony surrounded by friends and family.
In a luxurious 19th century stately property in Malaga, the immemorial sound of Scotland hummed in the background as a bagpiper played tunes of the bridal couple’s motherland to the wedding guests as they disembarked from a private coach on the grounds of the distinguished wedding venue.
Interestingly enough it wasn’t the lush, viridescent scenery that first enraptured Lesa and Dean to this picture-perfect wedding venue, neither was it the romantic, stone-walled chapel, one of the most charming places on the estate—a natural outdoor space that can host banquets for up to 300 guests—it was, and to quote the bridal couple: “connecting with a team that we could place our trust in immediately was actually one of the key drivers for beginning to consider Malaga as a destination for our big day. We chose the planners then the location, and not the other way around.”
The Sunshine Team rose to the occasion and began weaving together every last detail so that Lesa and Dean’s special day, in a typical Malaga aristocratic estate located in the middle of a captivating natural setting with excellent views and dreamlike gardens, would be one remembered by all.
The bride looked simply stunning in her gorgeous gown – and the groom, the most dashing in his smart tartan kilt as they were joined at the altar by Padre Peter who led a touching but very uplifting service. Once the vows were said and the rings exchanged, the couple, now as husband and wife, walked back down the aisle of the wonderful outdoor space near the old and cosy chapel and joined their guests for fresh sangria, wine and refreshments.
Following on from that, a Spanish guitarist softly strummed flamenco-style music creating a relaxed but refined wedding reception ambience as the newlyweds enjoyed their photo session with the talented Isabel Benchetrit.
The main course was held in a large outdoor terrace area which had been decorated with whimsical, fairy-tale vibes and string lights which created a breathtaking celestial array. The white wedding centerpieces offered a timeless elegance on all the tables where the wedding guests were offered a fantastic feast of diverse textures, interesting flavours and delicious aromas. A place where moving, unique and funny wedding speeches were said that brought a tear or two to the eyes of many gathered to celebrate Lesa and Dean’s big day.
After the all-important speeches, bride, groom and guests made their way to the dance floor that had been set up in the garden and partied the night away to old skool 80s dance classics, followed by a catchy playlist at the hands of the amazing DJ Ryan, all the while enjoying the flow of exquisite food and drink provided by the newlyweds.
A memorable wedding day, made all the more touching due to the current situation the world is in. A wedding day organised in the midst of global pandemic, with the added stress that entailed. However, the Sunshine Weddings team, despite the obstacles, were able to maintain a smooth wedding planning process and that Lesa and Dean remained upbeat and positive throughout their wedding journey.
And when the wedding guests arrived, most from Scotland, some from Germany and even two relatives from Bermuda, a magical week of reconnecting after a long 19 months of separation due to covid commenced. A week of unforgettable memories made much bigger than anyone could have imagined.
