This Spanish love story began when Mikis, originally from Belgium, moved to Texas USA after relocating with his work and as a result met Sarah. They fell in love and soon after moved in together.
As Mikis’ family own a beachside apartment near Sotogrande in Spain, they were both able to fly to the Costa del Sol and enjoy holidaying at the apartment during the early stages of their relationship, so when the million dollar question was finally popped they both knew which destination they wanted to have their wedding, in Spain!
The couple flew into Malaga via Belgium after visiting Mikis family with the intent on finding their ideal wedding venue in Spain.
Sunshine Weddings Spain had been given the opportunity to promote a maximum of 3 weddings a year at a fantastic sea view villa surrounded by protected land and which was about 5 minutes from Sotogrande marina.
As soon as they walked into the wedding villa grounds and stood in the stunning gardens they both knew that this would be their perfect wedding villa venue in Sotogrande.
A July wedding date was set so all their American guests could take advantage of the US bank Holiday and could fly over to enjoy Sarah and Miki’s wedding and make a real holiday out of the occasion.
A rehearsal dinner was arranged near Estepona on the eve of the wedding and due to the glorious weather that blesses the Costa del sol, the bridal couple had opted for a late wedding start time so guests could enjoy a good welcome drink the night before without having to worry about any early morning wake up calls.
Lorraine organised an amazing job with all of the bridal hair and make up, making sure everyone was relaxed and in a fun filled mood in the lead up to Sarah’s big entrance.
In true American tradition Mikis entered first with his parents to a live violin, followed by the 8 groomsmen escorting the 8 bridesmaids to the front of the ceremony area. They all waited for Sarah who was lead in by her mother and Robert.
The ceremony began and the atmosphere was both emotional but uplifting with all their close friends and family watching on, and with the views of the sea in the background the setting was simply breathtaking.
As soon as the bride and groom had confirmed their marriage and love for one another, they welcomed their guests to enjoy a wonderful reception of canapes and cocktail whilst enjoying the gardens and listening to their violinist playing a mixture of jazz and chill out music before sitting down to a delicious feast.
The couple presented their guests with a quality meal of lobster salad to start, followed by a choice of steak or quail before enjoying their dessert buffet.
As the sunset candles were lit to create a stunning glow which enhanced the garden and provided a romantic setting for this wedding to continue long into the night.
