One of the qualities of a good photographer is to capture the ordinary with artistry, not only should wedding photos look stunning, but every shot should also add an element of storytelling of the day, and today we are delighted to introduce our readers to a very talented and passionate storytelling photographer based on the beautiful island of Mallorca; Abraham Garcia…

The first kiss, emotive wedding moments captured by Abraham Garcia.
Tell us a little bit about yourself, where are you from and where did your interest in photography come from?

I am a Madrileño who fell in love with Mallorca and its beautiful light 13 years ago, which is when I decided to change my residence from the Spanish capital to the magical Balearic islands.

I’ve always loved photography, my father was a director of photography—which is basically the person responsible for the photographic heart of a production—in both film and television, so you could probably say that I was born with a camera in my hands 🙂

How did you get into wedding photography?

I consider myself a person passionate about photography and for me this job is a dream come true, so I put a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of desire every time I pick up the camera to portray something as special and beautiful as a wedding, your wedding.

Stunning bridal photos on the beautiful island of Mallorca.
Please describe your wedding photography style.

My style is far from conventional, there is no typical posing, what I strive to do is so-called wedding photojournalism, where the aim is to tell the story of the day with images. Photojournalism done well will tell a story better than the text or write-up that usually accompanies the photos. Therefore, it should capture images that have meaning or relevance to the story being told, in this case the story of your wedding day from the first hour of the morning until the last moment.

Where do you find inspiration?

Inspiration comes from many places, from a film, book, advertisements… I am constantly trying to feed this creativity and ingenuity.

What do you most love about your job?

The privilege of being able to immortalise a special and unique day for couples and then for them to be able to show the emotive wedding moments to family and friends, for me that is very special.

Why do you love working in Spain?

In general I like to go wherever there is a beautiful love story, but after many trips around the world doing weddings I’ve realise that there is no other place like the light and the weather in Spain 🙂

Which is your preferred camera brand?

The two I have are my favourites, Canon R5 and R6.

Any advice to those future bridal couples?

Relax, have fun and be yourselves!!! Make the most of every second and let yourself be carried away by the emotion of a day with so many unique moments. I won’t miss anything that happens around you, every detail, every laugh, the decoration, the kisses. If you fly I will be there and if you hug your friends I will be there too :-). Focus on what matters most, ENJOY!

A huge gracias Abraham, for your beautiful words in describing what you do and for these stunning images, proof of your passion and talent. We hope to see you again very soon in this wedding season and the ones to come, so that we can continue to enjoy your storytelling talent.
