Piano music adds that classic touch to your wedding day and helps create an unforgettable celebration for all…
A wedding pianist can provide something truly unique when it comes to your wedding entertainment. The piano itself is one of the most loved of all musical instruments and it’s certainly one of the most versatile, with music that can range from classical pieces to jazz and from rock n roll to pop providing the perfect background music for a drinks reception or dinner, a wedding ceremony or register signing. Additionally, there is perhaps no better way to ensure all your guests are on the dance floor from beginning to end.
In fact, well-chosen music will set the ultimate mood for your wedding day, so selecting the right entertainment for you and your guests is essential and today we, at Sunshine Weddings Spain, are delighted to chat with keyboard guru Miguel Ángel Pastor who gives us an insight into what a pianists can bring to your wedding and how best to set the tone for a party of a lifetime with music that everyone can boogie to.
I live in Malaga and started studying piano at the age of 8. After residing for a while in Iceland, I returned to Spain and started working in events. Over the years I have grown in experience and repertoire, until today, when I am the resident pianist at Bbou Hotel La Viñuela and Cortijo Bravo.
I began working in weddings and events thanks to contacts made through social networks as well as collaboration for wedding planners and through following bridal fairs, magazines and events. Word of mouth and inter-company collaboration are very important to make yourself known in this industry and collaborating with others in the sector is fundamental in creating spectacular events.
My musical style is based on the study of classical and modern music, and I feel very comfortable making adaptations of the latter using classical music resources.
Generally it is divided into “moments” Ceremony Only, Cocktail Only or Ceremony+Cocktail Pack. I always start playing with the arrival of the first guests, so having me for events is not just about playing for what it says in the contract, it’s about having live piano music at all times, from the beginning, until the last guests leave.
The passion and desire to show both bride and groom and guests that live piano music, when done from the heart, can be a fundamental element in an event as delicate and exciting as a wedding. The entrances, a speech from a special person, the “I do’s”, etc. all those moments accompanied by live piano music are infinitely more touching to the hearts of those present.
Generally, and depending on whether it is the high or low season for events, I request that bridal couples let me know the songs they want that are not on my repertoire a month in advance.
As for the songs that are already in my repertoire, bridal couples can ask for as many as they want and in any order they want.
I always attend the events in a suit with shirt and jacket, having several colours available in case that for theme, taste or simply preference, the bride and groom can choose the one they like the most.
