Wedding – Villa Benahavis: Olivia and Leon’s Picture Perfect Day…

Few destination wedding venues rival the idyllic Villa in the quaint, and typically Spanish hillside pueblo of Benahavis, where today’s featured couple, Olivia and Leon recently said ‘I do’.

Tucked away in an unspoilt and luscious green valley a few kilometres inland from the sparkling Mediterranean Sea – and yet just a stone’s throw from the popular southern Spanish resort of Marbella – the property ticks every wish on the list when it comes to a secluded setting to celebrate love in the sun with family and friends.

Sunshine Weddings were delighted to help Olivia and Leon plan their special day after a visit to view the picturesque Villa in person. Unsurprisingly, they also fell in love with the venue immediately!

And it really is hard not to…

Imagine a place where time seems to stand still; a hidden gem of a destination wedding venue whose sweeping and magnificent grounds also effortlessly seep into the landscape beyond, offering total privacy and an overwhelming sense of tranquility, and you have the Villa.

After welcome drinks in the property’s stunning grounds, guests were ushered to the beautiful front lawn to take their seats ready for the ceremony, which was conducted by the inimitable Padre Peter.

Olivia positively dazzled in her gorgeous wedding gown with her hair styled in an equally gorgeous up-do, and an exquisite bouquet courtesy of the amazing Karen, whose floral displays in the grounds were also breathtaking.

Nano, the Spanish guitarist did a fabulous job of providing uplifting flamenco music too, setting the Spanish scene in his relaxed yet professional style at the end of the ceremony, when guests made their way to the serene pool area to enjoy a drinks reception, where the wine, canapes (herb chicken wrapped in prosciutto, mini beef steak, mini cherry tomato and goat’s cheese tartlets, smoked salmon, asparagus and horseradish wraps, crostini with Bresola and crostini with smoked aubergine), and conversation flowed amidst the lush backdrop.

The villa has plenty of elegant and hidden corners, perfect to capture the special day.

Meanwhile, the super talented Pedro Bellido Photographer – whom we take this opportunity to thank immensely for the wonderful images – whisked the newly-weds away for some snapshots of the day in many of the elegant and hidden corners of the Villa.

Olivia and Leon gathered again with their nearest and dearest to enjoy the wedding breakfast served on the front lawn and its terrace; a mouthwatering menu and a first-class foodie experience! Guests feasted upon pumpkin ravioli, beef carpaccio, fillet of beef and fillet of sea bass. For vegetarian family and friends, there was also a delicious potato and thyme tortilla. And the dessert was a sublime trio of desserts: crème brûlee, chocolate brownie and fruit salad with mint.

Following some heartwarming speeches, the couple cut their fairy-tale wedding cake – a multi-tiered vanilla, chocolate orange and red velvet masterpiece – so that it could be served as a delicious midnight snack to fuel the evening’s dancing. The partying, courtesy of a local DJ, went on into the small hours beneath the canopy of the stars and some beautiful garden illumination.

Whilst the Benahavis Villa is a wow factor venue, thanks to its perfect location, it also makes for a convenient destination wedding when it comes to both accommodation and travel.

The charming white-washed pueblo offers a small selection of hotels, and nearby Marbella has an even more impressive array of options, from hip and trendy beach-side through to old-town and rustic and oozing with charm. Benahavis also has excellent transport links with the motorway, and is halfway between Malaga and Gibraltar airports.
