Intimate Finca Wedding in Mallorca

Nicole and Adam’s Island wedding Celebration in Mallorca…

The idyllic Spanish island of Mallorca was the chosen destination for today’s featured couple, Nicole and Adam, who tied the knot there this spring. Sunshine Weddings have a whole team of experts based on the beautiful Balearic island and we are pleased to offer it as part of our destination venue portfolio for couples looking to get married in this part of the world.

Why did you decide to get married in Mallorca? Had you holidayed there before, and do you have a special connection to the island?

We were looking for a wedding abroad that wasn’t too far away for us and our guests. We just happened to come across Sunshine Weddings online, and saw a venue which we loved. Unfortunately, it was for around 300 guests and we only had around 30, so Sunshine Weddings put together a few more venues for us to look at, and that’s how we came across the Finca

Did you visit the wedding venue prior to booking it? What was it about the location that stood out for you the most?

Yes, we flew out to Mallorca for 3 days and met up with Maria. The Finca was the first place we saw, and we fell in love straight away. We were looking for a rustic style wedding and it ticked the boxes for everything; scenery and location, as well as the beauty of the gardens and flowers. Also the fact that it would be private, for just our wedding, was a huge plus. Maria also took us to see a 5 star hotel, but we had already decided: The Finca it was.

What kind of logistical ‘challenges’ did you encounter as you organised your wedding, and how did Scott and the team help you to overcome them?

We didn’t really feel there were many challenges. Maybe when we visited we didn’t know the area well, or where we should be staying when we returned for the wedding, but Maria drove us to the Finca – and along the coast to show us a few resorts It was no problem for her, and in hindsight, was a massive help in deciding where to book to stay.

How long did it take to plan your wedding with Sunshine Weddings – from the initial chat to the Big Day itself?

It took us around 11 months from first email to the Big Day. Although the first few months seemed to move slowly, once we viewed the Finca, things seemed to speed up. It was definitely enough time

Traveling such a distance, did you and your guests take the opportunity to turn a trip to Mallorca into a longer holiday?

Yes, definitely. The majority of our 30 guests stayed a full week – including ourselves. We stayed in Palma Nova, which was ideal for our family. It was only 30 minutes away from the wedding venue and had the perfect amount of bars and restaurants for the week we were there.

Food is such a key part of any wedding celebration. Did you have the opportunity to taste test your menus before you chose them, and were they influenced by local ingredients?

Unfortunately, we didn’t get chance to visit again to do the tasting, but we put full trust into the caterers as they are Michelin-starred. We chose from the menu that was sent through to us and there was huge variety of food to cater for everyone. Which was great as we had a child, a vegan, and a vegetarian – as well as gluten-free requirements. The pictures themselves were also a great help

We would love to know a little about your beautiful dress, Nicole.

It was a fitted dress with beading across the straps and on the front. It had a low-buttoned back that also had lots of detail and beading with a long train which spread out to show more detailed pattern. The veil was in a cathedral-style and went the entire length of the train

Which floral theme did you go with?

For the ceremony itself, we went with minimal flowers as the venue has huge amounts of plants and flowers in the courtyard We decided to carry the theme of that through to the tables on the front lawn: Green and ivory across the tables with garlands to match, as well as a trailing bouquet.

How was the wedding cake?

We had a two-tier chocolate naked cake. As we couldn’t meet with the cake maker, everything was arranged via email and photos. We put full trust in Pam and the team at Sunshine Weddings, and were delighted with the outcome

After the ceremony, how did you and your family and friends keep the party going into the evening?’

We had a singer/guitarist called Jaunjo, who was unbelievable. He sang lots of cover songs that we suggested – this was while we had canapes and photographs. Everybody said how good he was, and we’d highly recommend him. Also later on we had a DJ set. We provided a list of songs and the DJ added plenty more based on the genre. He was fantastic and everyone was dancing until the end of the night

What were your favourite wedding highlights?

The obvious one is the ceremony. The celebrant, Toni Pons was amazing; funny and relaxed, but also used very moving words. He made it really special for us. Another highlight was the speeches; laughter as well tears. It was perfect. On the evening the father-daughter dance rose the roof with a slow Stevie wonder song. It then broke out into Sweet Child of mine by Guns n Roses, with wigs and guitars to aid the performance. It was fantastic. All whilst being a secret to everybody, including the groom and the full wedding party!

Thank you so much to Nicole and Adam for sharing their amazing day with us.
