Nerja Beach Wedding

Nerja Beach Wedding…

Destination beach wedding in Southern Spain.

When searching for a destination wedding planner, many people turn to the internet – which is how most of our wedding couples find us. And although nearly all of those whose weddings we plan are English-speaking, not all of them are from the UK!

Roisin and Gerrard, originally from Ireland, have been living happily in Australia for many years. Because most of their friends and family still live in Ireland and Europe, they wanted their dream beach wedding somewhere that would be warm and sunny in October but not too far away – so instead of marrying on the coast of Oz, they chose the south of Spain.

After contacting our team at Sunshine Weddings Spain and discussing their perfect wedding location with Susie and Scott, they agreed that the pretty Spanish seaside town of Nerja, East of Malaga, was their prime destination.

Distance is no obstacle when it comes to getting married with us, and we were able to start planning their big day from the onset. We took videos and sent the couple images of their area and venues, and they agreed that a Nerja beach wedding was the way to go.

Over the course of an entire year we had weekly communication via email and Skype calls. Roisin and Gerrard were so easy to work with and only had one specification – that the day would be fun from start to finish!

Everything slotted into place and the couple arrived in Spain a few days before their wedding. We had arranged a pre-wedding party for the night before their Nerja beach wedding in the centre of town at a popular Irish music venue, which was the perfect start to kick off the proceedings. It was wonderful to see their friends and family come together.

October in Spain is a great month in which to get married as it’s still warm and sunny but without the high temperatures and humidity of the summer. Roisin and Gerrard awoke to a glorious day and proceedings began mid-afternoon with a ceremony in the venue’s beach-side gardens.

Roisin wore a beautiful long lace-trimmed gown and Garrard looked very dapper in his waistcoat. The bridesmaids wore one-shoulder long dresses in muted shades of grey and the bouquets of traditional roses in dusky shades completed the romantic and relaxed look of the day.

The ceremony was conducted by our Master of Ceremony, Geoff, and afterwards guests were treated to live vocals by Johny on guitar whilst enjoying a mixture of beers, cavas, and soft drinks looking out to sea. An array of traditional Spanish-style tapas were served including piquillo pepper prawns, serrano ham and salmon tartlets before all guests sat for dinner at beneath a billowing white canape surrounded by palm trees.

Following on from a three-course meal and speeches, we organised a local duo to play some great sets outdoors. Guests were able to take in the spectacular views, soak up the perfect Spanish evening and enjoy a Mediterranean sunset before heading inside to the nightclub bar partying the night away!
