Hi everyone! Not long left to go until our big day! Here is a quick update on the wedding events:
Welcome dinner
Date and time: Saturday 16th July, 7.30pm
Address: Paraiso de Nerja Beach Bar (not to be confused with Restaurante Paraiso which is above it). Carretera N340, Km 289.2 (next to the Punta Lara Roundabout).
It’s on the same beach as the Hotel Marinas de Nerja and a 5min walk if you come out of the hotel onto the beach facing the sea and walk to the right; see map below)
Dress code: casual
Food will be served from 8pm
We have booked the beach bar Paraiso de Nerja for an informal dinner of traditional Spanish paella. It will be a great opportunity to meet everyone before the wedding! Food and drinks will be provided.
Shuttles to the wedding venue on the 17th
For those who opted to use the shuttle service to take you to Marinas de Nerja hotel on the wedding day, the pick up is at 4pm at apartments Villa Carabeo Playa parking lot, address: 27 Calle Hernando de Carabeo, Nerja (see the map below):
Shuttles back from the hotel to the pick up location in Nerja will depart Marinas de Nerja hotel at 11.45pm, 1.45am and 3.45am.
Wedding menu reminders
If you chose a non vegetarian main option (chicken or seabass) you will have a serrano ham starter, lemon cava sorbet, and your choice of main for dinner. Vegetarian option is tomato and mozzarella salad and vegetable lasagne. If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions please let us know ASAP.
Gifts reminder
Unfortunately we won’t be able to take back any gifts with us therefore, if you would like to get us a gift, we would really appreciate a contribution to our honeymoon in Thailand. There will be a gifts box at the wedding venue. Thank you!

We are really happy you are considering being part of our big day! Here we wanted to give you some more details about our wedding.
Living in London, as an American groom and Russian bride who grew up in Scotland, we naturally decided to get married in Spain! We are sure you will love the sunshine, delicious tapas and seafood, and the relaxing atmosphere of Andalucía.

Location
Nerja, Spain (approximately one hour drive from Málaga airport)
Nerja is a coastal town on the Costa del Sol. We fell in love with its idyllic Mediterranean setting including gorgeous beaches, mountain panorama and narrow winding streets and open plazas.
Wedding Venue
Marinas de Nerja is a beachfront hotel on the edge of Nerja. The ceremony, reception and dinner will be held in the beautiful hotel gardens overlooking the sea.
Arrival
The closest airport is Málaga (AGP) which is a 45 minutes – 1 hour drive from Nerja.

Transportation to Nerja
We recommend a company called Malaga Transfer and have negotiated discounted prices to Nerja as follows:
- Standard car (type Ford Mondeo or similar) with capacity for 4 people + 3 medium suitcases: 68 euros
- People carrier up to 7 people: 97 euros
- Microbus up to 12 people: 125 euros
- Microbus up to 19 people: 145 euros
All these prices are per way and road toll is not included. Baby /child/ booster seats: 5 euros

A taxi for 2 people booked directly at the airport is around 80-120 euros one way.
Accommodation
We will be staying at the Marinas de Nerja, a 4 star beach hotel where the wedding is held. They have 3 types of apartments:
- Studio (sleeps up to 3 people),
- 1 bedroom (sleeps up to 4 people) and
- 2 bedroom (sleeps up to 6 people).
To get better value rates you can share with other people, e.g. two couples sharing a 1 bedroom apartment will be cheaper than two separate studio apartments. Additionally, all our guests get a 20% discount on all apartment types. There are:
- bed and breakfast,
- half board (breakfast and dinner) and
- full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner) options.
There are also all-inclusive rates (unlimited food and drinks) but they will not get the discount. Please note that this discount will not be applied for all bookings made within 7 days before the arrival date and 4 nights minimum stay applies.

Please note that if you want to stay at this hotel we advise you book as soon as possible even if you are unsure. You can cancel up to 4 days before arrival without getting charged.
We will arrive at the hotel on the 14th July and leave on the 19th. We plan to go for the bed and breakfast option as we expect to eat dinner in the centre of Nerja on most nights.
You are welcome to stay at Marinas de Nerja with us, however Nerja is very easy to navigate and there are numerous accommodation options within close proximity.

Please note that accommodation in Nerja is booking up very quickly so we advise booking as soon as you can. Most hotels will let you cancel at no extra cost within a few days before arrival so we recommend booking now even if you are unsure. There is also the option to stay in apartments, villas or privately rented accommodation.

Wedding events
Saturday 16th July
A welcome dinner will be held in Nerja (location and time TBC). ‘Food, soft and alcoholic drinks will be provided.
Sunday 17th July
Wedding ceremony will start at 5pm. Transport to and from the venue will be provided from the town of Nerja.
- 5pm – Ceremony
- 6pm – Cocktails and canapes
- 7.30pm – Dinner
- 11pm – Party – with DJ and (American / Russian style) open bar
Shuttles back to Nerja will be provided throughout the night.
Dress code
Outdoor semi-formal: Men – smart shirt and trousers (suits are optional), Ladies – summer dresses. These are suggestions only, above all we want you to be comfortable. Ladies are welcome to wear heels as the event won’t be on the beach itself. Reception drinks will be on the grass so wedges and sandals might be more comfortable though. And guys – sandals are welcome!
Activities in Nerja
We plan to be in Nerja from 14th– 19th July and would love to hang out with you outside of the wedding events but also want you to make the most of your holiday! When you get sick of us feel free to explore Nerja and its surroundings, below are some suggestions of things to do.
Nerja Caves – the caves are a major attraction in the area and will provide some welcome shade in the summer heat, for more info check out http://www.thenerjacaves.com/
Nerja town – the town itself is very scenic with some highlights including Balcon de Europa and El Salvador church. Or simply explore its narrow winding streets and have a tapas lunch at one of the shaded plazas.
Beaches – there are several beaches in Nerja where you can sunbathe, swim and even go for a cheeky snorkel!
