A May wedding in Spain means glorious weather to celebrate a sunshine filled day with your family and friends…

The stunning bride with her girl gang.

Peak summer in southern Spain is during the months of July and August, however it is often very hot during the day, so booking a wedding in the off-peak months of April, May and June actually sees many bridal couples benefit from pleasant temperatures and a more cost-effective budget.

May in southern Spain sees increasingly long and light-filled days, and flights as well as accommodation can prove extremely cost-efficient, allowing your wedding budget – and that of your guests – to stretch further.

For a taste of a rustic wedding in an unbeatable location at a time of the year when the wedding season is just starting to kick-off, check out today’s bridal story which takes place in a fabulous rural location in Southern Spain, just 30 minutes from Malaga Airport.

This beautiful Finca with panoramic views of sea and mountains set on the outskirts of glitzy Marbella was the chosen wedding location for the lovely Jade and Jonathon, one of our first bridal couples to say “I do” this wedding season.

A day filled with love and laughter which started with the guests arriving at the grounds of the rustic finca, there they gathered and mingled to the ambient music performed by the talented David Carell who played for the guests as they arrived.

To the beautifully performed “Only One Girl” by The Saw Doctors, sung by a family friend, Wilf, accompanied by David on guitar, the guests were seated and the stunning bride made her way up the aisle to the on-site purpose built ceremony area in the garden, a space that made the ideal canvas in which to immortalise the event with amazing shots taken by the talented Rebecca Davidson.

Surrounded by a green canopy of natural elements, Jade and Jonathon were joined as husband and wife in a joyful and heartwarming service led by Humanist Minister Jeff.

Once the vows were said and the rings exchanged, the newlyweds walked back down the aisle of the delightful outdoor space set among rolling hills and farmland where they joined their guests in the lush gardens for some refreshments and a great feast of canapes and music at the hands of the gifted musician, Kimmi.

The main course was then held in the lower garden, where as night fell, an even more romantic scene unfolded as the sunset brought a glow of orange and red which tinged the magical wedding venue in golden light. There the newlyweds and their loved ones enjoyed a choice of avocado and pipiranna of vegetables with truffle and honey vinaigrette as a starter, pularda chicken with nuts, glazed onions and apple puree or asparagus and mushroom risotto as the main followed by a mouthwatering white chocolate mousse with brownie and vanilla ice cream for dessert.

A place where the all-important and emotive speeches were said before all the guests were then invited to join the newlyweds at the dance floor and witness the first dance to Klangkarussell’s “Sun Don’t Shine”—music at the hands of DJ John Besson who had been flown in from Dubai.

The DJ set was joined by duo Alex on bongos and Leonardo on sax, who led an amazing party right into the night, and thanks to the venue’s secluded surroundings, away from the bustle of city living, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed the end of a very special day under a blanket of stars—which illuminating the night sky.

And of course to the wonderful bridal couple, Jade and Jonathon, for sharing their special day with us. On behalf of the Sunshine team we wish you both the very best of luck, health and happiness in your future together.
