What better way to set the tone of your big day with beautiful wedding harp music…
The romantic music of the harp sets the mood for your wedding day, ensuring it will be unforgettable and exceptional. In fact a harp is the epitome of elegance and grace and by choosing to hire a harpist for your special day, not only do you ensure elegant music for your ceremony or as background music to set the desired ambience for your magical day, the elegance of the instrument itself raises the whole tone of the wedding celebration.
Harpists are best suited for the more intimate parts of the day such as the wedding ceremony, or as background music during a dinner or drinks reception and can be incredibly beautiful and mesmerising.
Today we have the pleasure of talking to one the most talented harpists on the Costa del Sol, Tibor Tejeda del Rio.
I am a native of Malaga, I started playing the harp when I was eight years old at the Professional Conservatory of Music Manuel Carra in Malaga under the supervision of the teacher and great reference Doña Lidia del Rio. It was thanks to her that I was introduced to the world of harp and music. Later, at the age of 17, I continued my studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Málaga under the supervision of Doña Maria Jesús Bedoya Ruíz and Doña Maite Garcia Donet, with whom I obtained my harp degree.
Since then I have been fortunate to have played in many orchestras throughout the peninsula and Europe, under the baton of maestros such as Don Juan Baeza Baeza, Don Francisco Matín Jaime, Don David Carmona, Don Juan José Navarro, among others.
In the world of weddings I have been offering the art of the harp to the bride, groom and guests for 16 years.
To be honest I don’t, I love playing in all parts of the wedding and for me, all are important and just as special. The harp is actually an amazingly versatile instrument and it’s possible to play classical and modern pieces on it, so really it’s suited for any moment of the wedding day. What I enjoy the most is to be able to play and for the bride and groom and their guests to enjoy the instrument.
I have my list which includes: All Of Me by John Legend, Someone Like You by Adele, BraveHeart and Hymn of the Sea by Alper Ozgur, Ave Maria by Caccini, A Thousand Years by C. Perri, Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen, Shape of you by Ed Sheeran and Game of Thrones by R. Djawad to name but a few. But I can also adapt to the suggestions of the bride and groom.
A bit of both to be honest, I like to play solo but I also like the company of other musicians. I’ve been fortunate to play as a soloist but also in different types of ensembles such as duos and trios and I have performed in places such as the Cervantes Theatre in Malaga, the National Theatre of Istanbul in Turkey, the National Theatre of Algiers, the National Theatre of Brussels, among others.
