Hacienda Wedding Mijas: A Celebration of Love in the Spanish Countryside…

Heading inland just a few miles from the beautiful southern Spanish coastline, there are some truly stunning hidden gems waiting to be discovered when it comes to seeking out an idyllic venue to host a private, intimate and exclusive destination wedding.

The Hacienda, marked out with its stylish and impressive tree-lined drive, encompasses all of these elements: rustic luxury perfectly placed amidst the rolling green hills and sweeping verdant fields surrounding the small and exquisitely pretty, white-washed town of Mijas.

Hayley and Laurie fell in love with the Hacienda and decided they just had to celebrate their wedding there this spring amidst the tranquil and serene surroundings, inviting family and friends to share their special day with them. It was a pleasure for us at Sunshine Weddings to help bring that magical event together.

Whilst the Hacienda offers accommodation for a few extra guests, the beauty of this particular Spanish wedding venue is that, although it feels so wonderfully secluded, it is just a hop and a skip to Mijas pueblo itself, where there are a handful of stylish, boutique hotels, and plentiful accommodation for the rest of the bridal party. Not to mention some excellent eateries and artisan shopping opportunities, highlighting Mijas’ popularity as a year-round resort, making an extended stay – a mini-break or even a longer holiday – irresistible for family and friends.

Hayley and Laurie’s natural and rustic-themed ceremony and dining plans fit wonderfully with the backdrop of the Hacienda; delicate flowers and foliage; bottles, twine, hearts, crates, lanterns and chalk boards blending seamlessly with every hue of the gardens, campo and hillside beyond. Not to forget Hayley’s elegant multi-tiered, off-the-shoulder bridal gown. She looked absolutely breathtaking.

The Hacienda boasts some lovely additional facilities;

A fabulous pool – for those who fancy a dip – which lends itself as a beautiful background dining feature. The vast grounds of the Hacienda are also abundant with numerous grasses, tropical flowers and an orchard of fruit trees, offering plenty of interesting nooks for photographic moments, and an extensive lawn area for cava and canape-fueled chatter among guests. Indeed many couples are drawn to the Hacienda because of the sheer variety it offers in terms of locations and settings, all within the venue itself; from its quaint thatched roof BBQ area, to its flowing fountains. The property even boasts its very own vineyard!

And there are so many spots just begging to be used for the ceremony:

Some suiting larger, some smaller-style nuptials, as well as offering the perfect setting for a stylish and refreshing cocktail reception. The Hacienda is also blessed with some intimate courtyards decked with the vibrant colour pop – and inimitable fragrance – of glorious geraniums, inviting guests to relax and take cover in the shade from the Spanish sun.

Inside the venue, everything a bride and groom could possibly need has been taken care of with a particularly huge kitchen, which has been designed with catering in mind but offers a hygge-like feel for the bridal party; a home from home. The Hacienda is also built in typical old Andalucia style with cool and inviting sitting-rooms and bedrooms. For bookworms there’s even a library!

But one of the wow factor elements of this destination wedding venue surely has to be the impressive tower sitting atop the Hacienda, whose panoramic views are captivating and can be used as the backdrop for some beautifully romantic images of bride and groom.

As night falls, the Hacienda is transformed into a whole new venue; its open spaces and large flat lawn area allowing for a little music, dance and merriment. The Hacienda can cater for up to 200 guests, all of whom will be wowed in the evening by the way the magic of the property can be captured with the imaginative use of fairy lights, and a gorgeously illuminated pool. And then there is the natural wonder of the planets and the stars, whose show from this area of such little light pollution, is something else!
