The Costa del Sol is a great destination wedding location, situated in the south of Andalusia, it is home to glorious golden beaches, beautiful blue seas and endless sunshine.

And whilst sun-kissed beaches is what this iconic tourist hotspot is best known and loved for, there’s so much more to experience whilst staying in the area, with plenty of activities for you and your wedding guests to come together.

Today Sunshine Weddings Spain chats with the fabulous team at Fuengirola Adventure Golf—where there is putting fun for everyone.

Located approximately halfway between Malaga and glitzy Marbella, Fuengirola Adventure Golf course can be found on the main A7 road, which links all the major centres on the Costa del Sol.

Originally built by a professional golfer and used as a private golf course, the transferral of ownership saw the private course turned into a family-friendly golf and outdoor dining experience—and since has become the only adventure golf course on the whole of the Costa del Sol.

We chat with Mick and Tracey—the life and soul of the place—and find out more about this popular golf course, why it’s a must for wedding guests who want to enjoy a fun afternoon out and the difference between crazy golf and adventure golf.

What makes Fuengirola Adventure golf different from other golf courses on the Coast?

Firstly, it’s the only adventure golf course on the Costa del Sol and offers the golfer a good test of his or her putting skill.

Adventure Golf is sometimes referred to as Crazy Golf’s mad cousin, with waterfalls cutting across holes, rivers disturbing your ball, palm trees to traversem, the game is generally more challenging than crazy golf.

On our course, we are very proud to have created a course that provides a challenge for the ‘better golfer’ but also provides a fun activity for golfers of all standards, from three-year-olds to octogenarians and older.

Depending on the level of the players and the size of the group, it takes about one hour to get around our 19th hole course (with the option of taking around a bucket of beer to quench those thirsty moments) where water plays an important challenge to the players. In fact, the water interacts with the golf in 10 holes out of the 19 on the course, with  the changes in elevation, length and style keep the putter put to the test, in an entertaining way throughout.

It sounds like a super fun family day out, what can bridal couples together with their nearest and dearest expect if they book for an afternoon?

A fun afternoon guaranteed, we get many groups coming in, big families, stag does, hen parties we also organise corporate events, and many of our clients are repeat clientes, people who have really enjoyed their time here and always come back when they are in the area.

For a wedding party planning to spend the afternoon here, we usually suggest a round of Adventure Golf, plus a bite to eat from our Golfshak Bar, an area that provides the perfect setting to sit back and relax during the day.

At our Golfshak Bar, parties can enjoy a wide range of drinks, food and snacks, or mixed hot food platters including Ribs, chicken wings and garlic mushrooms.

We are quite happy to tailor a package to suit the needs of a wedding party like adding a mini tournament to the day, a good round and your wedding guests might make it on our leaderboard!

We actually plan to set up official tournaments in the next year or so, but that project is still under development.

Fuengirola Adventure Golf sounds like a popular option for bridal couples and their guests, have you had any famous faces try out their putting skills on your course?

Quite a few to be honest, it’s always been a popular activity for people holidaying in the area. Perhaps the most famous have been David and Victoria Beckham’s children, unfortunately ‘mum and dad’ didn’t make an appearance.

We’ve also had comedian Sean Lough, actor Will Mellor, Irish pop singer Brian Nicholas McFadden and TV presenter and chef Anthony Worrall-Thompson, to name but a few.
