A Prelude by the Sea – Getting married on the Costa del Sol

From crispy fried seafood to succulent chicken wings and a selection of Iberian ham and cheese, it was the perfect way to commence an unforgettable wedding celebration in the sunshine.

Behind the Scenes – Bridal Preparations

As the morning sun gently filled the bridal suite with light, Maiken and her girl gang began their preparations for the big day. With the arrival of a skilled hair and makeup team, the room buzzed with activity. A Sacred Union – Catholic Church Wedding in Marbella

In the heart of Marbella’s Old Town, Maiken and Jun selected a traditional Catholic church near Orange Square as the sacred venue for their vows. As guests gathered, the church’s historic basilica layout and detailed architecture offered a stunning backdrop for the ceremony. Under the guidance of Father Ernesto Ruiz Canales, the couple exchanged heartfelt vows, surrounded by loved ones. Accompanied by timeless music, including Ave Maria and Fields of Gold, Maiken and Jun took the first steps of their journey together as husband and wife.

Post-Ceremony – Celebratory Drinks at a Nearby Plaza

As the ceremony came to an end, guests spilled out onto the sun-drenched streets of Marbella, where a nearby tapas bar awaited to prolong the celebration. Against the lively backdrop of Orange Square’s bustling energy, glasses clinked in toasts to the newlyweds. Meanwhile, local photographer Issy skillfully captured the precious moments with her lens, from fun family shots to snaps of the newlyweds amid the charming streets of Marbella’s old town. As late afternoon approached and the sun began to dip below the horizon, a private coach whisked guests away to the next chapter of the celebration at an exclusive wedding venue.

The Wedding Venue – Surrounded by panoramic views

Surrounded by panoramic views of rolling mountains and the sparkling sea, the bridal couple’s chosen wedding venue offered a picturesque backdrop for the celebrations to continue. Upon arrival at the exclusive Marbella wedding space, guests were warmly welcomed and guided to the drinks reception area. There, they were treated to a selection of beverages including beers, cava, and soft drinks, accompanied by an array of delectable canapés such as mini beef steak on garlic croute with hollandaise sauce or salsa verde, gingered chicken cakes with mango and a coriander mayonnaise, pork brochettes with a whole grain mustard & orange glaze and tiny parmesan & rosemary shortbreads.

The Wedding Breakfast – in a breathtaking amphitheatre

With the drinks reception over, guests were invited to the venue’s pièce de résistance—a breathtaking amphitheatre—for an alfresco wedding breakfast. There guests were treated to a sumptuous BBQ menu, featuring whole entrecote crusted in herbs and sea salt, thinly sliced and served with béarnaise sauce, entraña with salsa chimichurri, and salmon fillets with salsa verde. Accompanying the grilled delights were a variety of salads including shaved cucumber, carrot, white radish salad with a cumin chilli-spiced yoghurt dressing and couscous salad with sultanas & almonds.

After the main course, and just before dessert was served, the all-important speeches began, starting with the father-of-the-bride and continuing with the maid of honour and best man.

For dessert, guests enjoyed a delightful trio consisting of chocolate truffle cake, mojito fruit salad, and white chocolate & raspberry cheesecake. As the sun began to set and the amphitheatre twinkled with warm white lights, signalling the conclusion of the meal, it was time to lace up the dancing shoes and hit the dance floor.
