Finca Wedding in Mallorca: Jasmine and Grant’s Perfect Day…

The sun-kissed island of Mallorca played host to Jasmine and Grant this summer in one of the most beautiful weddings of the season. After a visit to tour a range of dream locations with the Sunshine Weddings team based on the island, the couple quickly decided that the Finca had stolen their hearts!

And justifiably so… for the property underwent a complete restoration just over a decade ago, transforming itself into a fabulous destination wedding venue full of distinctive Mallorcan character, with the added benefit of some modern and breath-taking finishing touches.

“From the moment we got engaged we knew we wanted a wedding in the sunshine as we live in a very wet Scotland. We decided as Palma is such a beautiful city we would get married close to there. We felt it was also very convenient for our guests as the flight is pretty short too.”

“From the moment we arrived we knew the Finca was perfect. We just got that feeling. The scenery was gorgeous and the Finca was very well kept.”
As well as planning weddings in southern Spain, where we specialise in locations in and around the stunning beaches and countryside of the Costa del Sol, Sunshine Weddings has long been arranging celebrations for bridal couples on the magnificent island of Mallorca. We were thrilled when the couple came to us to help organise their big day.

“With the help of Sunshine Weddings, I found the most beautiful florist, Olivia. We met and I told her my vision for the day and she got exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a mix of floral arrangements in a vase and some around the chandeliers on the tables and they looked so nice. I also went for a full rose bouquet and decided to have my bridesmaids with the same but added some greenery to theirs to tie in with the venue.”

“The guests were amazed with the venue. They still go on about it to this day and all say it’s the best wedding they have ever been to. I even got a comment on the day saying it was like something out a Vogue magazine – haha! Most of my guests spent a week in Mallorca and we also had a pool party at our family villa on the Monday after the wedding, which 120 of the guests from the wedding came to. It was also fab to enjoy some extra time with the guests in the beautiful sunshine!”

The bride looked amazing in her gown, with gorgeous and flawless hair and make-up provided by local expert, Marta.

“My gown was very hard to find. I tried on a total of 40 dresses before finding ‘the one’! As I shopped for the dress in Scotland it was difficult to find a dress perfect for the hot climate in Spain. I always knew I wanted something sleek and lace. I then decided I would like to change it up throughout the day so knew I wanted a detachable skirt for the dress. Therefore I shopped around a lot of shops and eventually a store had got in touch with a picture of a dress from a designer in Milan and I knew from just looking at the photo that it was exactly what I was looking for and asked the shop if they could order a sample of the dress for me to try on. 6 weeks later and the dress was available to try on and it was a say yes to the dress moment!”

Jasmine and Grant’s family friend, John was the celebrant for their late afternoon marriage ceremony in the exquisite grounds of the Finca, where white petals were scattered either side of the aisle; adding another wonderful touch to the day.

“For the ceremony we decided to have an electric violinist to play some classical music and then to keep guests entertained whilst Grant and I went for our photos with Aimee. He played many hits from Beyonce to Coldplay. He was fantastic and the guests really loved him! “

Another charming – and very popular! – feature of the day was the cute Volkswagen van which served drinks from the courtyard, where guests could soak up the venue’s delightful surroundings. And the Finca’s gardens are quite sensational since they boast a melange of aromatic plants, bougainvilleas, roses and palm trees, making for a stunningly colourful backdrop. Furthermore, as the Finca is surrounded by farming land, it is blessed by carob, orange and lemon trees… as well as fabulous olive groves.

During the wedding breakfast, a playlist further enhanced the joyful ambiance of the delicious menu, the speeches, and the cutting of the cake; a glorious three-tiered masterpiece complete with Swiss buttercream, that went down fabulously with all.

“We decided to give guests a choice for their meal. For starters they could choose beef carpaccio or a summer salad with beefsteak tomatoes, feta cheese and watermelon. For the main course there was salmon with caviar parmentier, red grapefruit and pak choy or aged beef fillet with vegetable ratatouille and black olive jus. Then for dessert… a raspberry mousse with white chocolate and honey ice cream

The cake was delicious. It was 3 tiers and we kept it very simple as it was white and dressed with flowers from our florist. It had a vanilla sponge with a salted caramel filling and on the bottom tier it was red velvet. We all enjoyed the leftover cake at the villa party!”

After the sun set upon the Finca and its grounds, basking all in its amber glow, a simply stunning evening display ensued, thanks to some fabulous fountain style lighting.

“I wanted the venue to look rustic but slightly glam at the same time which is why I added in the chandeliers and went for a white and gold theme. I felt it suited the venue perfectly!”

Late night snacks of mini hamburgers and cheese, and chicken pasties, fueled an evening full of partying and fun.

A cigar bar was also provided by Tony, and then after dinner, the bridal party were thoroughly entertained…

“We decided we wanted a band to kick things off in the evening as this is a traditional part of a Scottish wedding. They were amazing and really got the party going
We knew we wanted a DJ for the dance room after midnight, as Grant and I love to dance. During a holiday in Mallorca prior to the wedding, we met a saxophonist called Ramon at a’ beach club. He was playing alongside a DJ… and we just knew had to hire him for the wedding to play alongside our DJ! He was also a huge hit with the guests and created an amazing atmosphere.”‘

Located just 10 minutes from Mallorca’s cosmopolitan capital city of Palma, and only five minutes from the airport, the Finca is super accessible, whilst offering an exclusive hideaway that’s just made for weddings. And, thanks to its proximity to the cultural hot-spot of the island, an array of fabulous hotels and apartments – spanning boutique to iconic and traditional – accommodation for all of the bridal party is easily taken care of in Palma as well.

A massive gracias goes out to Aimee for the gorgeous photography… and all here in the Sunshine Weddings team would like to take this opportunity to wish Jasmine and Grant a long, healthy and very happy marriage!
