Hidden wedding venue Marbella | August wedding on the Costa del Sol

Back

Nikki and Paul selected Marbella as the picturesque backdrop for their dreamy August wedding day.

Set amid Marbella’s beauty, Nikki and Paul’s chosen venue was a hidden gem—a former family-owned restaurant reborn as a private wedding haven. With its panoramic views of the sea and mountains, this venue promised an unforgettable celebration, featuring a genuine WOW-factor: its own amphitheatre, meticulously carved into the mountainside, creating the perfect setting for the couple’s unique ceremony.

Setting the Tone – Welcome Drinks Accompanied by Ambient Spanish Guitar Music

Guests were welcomed with refreshing drinks in a shaded area as the sun hung in the sky. Nano, a local Spanish guitarist, played ambient music during the mid-afternoon welcome session, where sangria, beers, and soft drinks were served and the atmosphere buzzed with anticipation. Meanwhile, final touches were made in the bridal suite, signalling that it was time.

The Ceremony – Against the Backdrop of Sweeping Mountain Views

Nikki and Paul’s wedding ceremony unfolded in the venue’s stunning amphitheatre, where the sweeping mountain views provided a breathtaking backdrop to the special moment. The atmosphere was set by Nano’s melodic tunes, with Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect Symphony” accompanying the bride’s entrance.

Against a beautifully adorned ceremony structure, featuring white drapes and flowers in harmony with the overall theme, Nikki, elegant in her fitted bridal dress, stood beside Paul, looking suave in a casual beige trouser and white linen shirt and were joined as Husband and Wife by Minister Debbie Skymer who officiated the ceremony. A personal touch emerged as rituals symbolising their bond were woven into the bespoke proceedings.

The recession, marked by the lively beats of Nano’s “Bomba Gypsy Kings,” concluded the ceremony and the 70 guests present, who had witnessed the beautiful union, showered petals during the exit, signalling the transition to the reception area, where the celebrations continued.

The Wedding Breakfast – A Spanish Inspired Feast

After the ceremony, the festivities continued with the wedding reception. All guests were served a choice of cava, beer, and soft drinks in a picturesque shaded area, Nano provided an uplifting flamenco musical backdrop while hot and cold canapés, including mini beef steak on a garlic croûte, torched goat cheese tart, shredded chicken tikka on mini poppadom, and tangy Thai prawn skewers, were served. Rebecca Davidson, a talented photographer, captured the moment with fun family photos and snaps of the bridal couple.

As the evening progressed, the first call for dinner saw guests invited to be seated on the terrace for an al fresco feast. The starters featured a taleggio cheese tart with caramelised shallot and rocket salad and sun-dried tomatoes. The main course offered options like pan-fried fillet of beef with dauphinoise potatoes and a red wine jus, or garlic and rosemary leg of lamb with roasted shallots and parmesan risotto. For vegetarian guests, there was spinach, pumpkin, and ricotta rotolo with sage butter. The dessert trio, featuring chocolate truffle cake, mojito fruit salad, and mini white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, added the final touches to the feast fit for a King and his Queen.

Party under the Stars

As dusk settled, the terrace transformed into a lively party vibe. Music filled the air, and conversations danced along with upbeat music as the bridal couple were whisked away for some romantic pre-sunset photos.

Sax player Roberto’s tunes marked the transition to a lively party, where late-night snacks fueled the energetic dancing. DJ Steve Altman then took over the music baton for a four hour set with a catchy playlist, the music weaving its magic as the night wore on. Amid laughter and shared stories, guests bid their adieus as a 55-seater coach ensured their safe journey back to their respective accommodation, marking the end of a spectacular day.

Thank you to the wonderful bridal couple, Nikki and Paul, for sharing their special day with us. On behalf of the Sunshine team we wish you both the very best of luck, health and happiness in your future together. Gracias also to Rebecca Davidson, for the use of these incredible images.
