Early Morning Prep at a Mediterranean Oasis

In the heart of Marbella, Sophie and Ben’s wedding unfolded against the backdrop of a luxury villa with panoramic views of rugged mountains. As the sun rose over the Mediterranean, the private villa near Marbella buzzed with activity. Sophie, amid the morning hustle, had her hair and makeup done by Lorraine, the expert stylist. Flowers were delivered, photographer Rebecca Davidson arrived and the final touches were put into place, ensuring everything was set for the upcoming celebration.

Welcome Drink in the Courtyard – Sangria and Spanish Serenity

By mid-morning, the villa courtyard came alive with the sounds of a local guitarist, Jesus, and the welcome drink of sangria, water and soft drinks set the tone for a day filled with Spanish charm. There, guests sipped their drinks, enjoying the tranquillity before the ceremony.

The Ceremony – A Simple yet Romantic Garden Setting

The garden terrace off the courtyard transformed into a simple and romantic haven for Sophie and Ben’s ceremony. In the warm mid-afternoon sun, John Legend’s “All of Me” played as the bridal party made their entrance. Minister Gareth led the ceremony against the breathtaking backdrop of Marbella’s rugged mountains, set on the front patio of the house.

The setting was adorned with a subtle touch—drapes in a neutral tone, pampas grass, natural-coloured palm leaves, and accents of burnt orange, peacock blue, and greenery. Four gold frames, styled with pampas, added a touch of elegance, and the rustic ceremony table served as a focal point for the emotional and happy ceremony.

The atmosphere was complemented by the gentle strumming of the Spanish guitarist and as the formalities concluded, the buzz of celebration continued, marking the seamless transition to the cocktail hour.

Cocktail Hour in the Secret Garden -Canapes and Conversations

After the ceremony, guests strolled down a path to a secret garden, once planted by Hollywood royalty Madeleine Carroll. Jesus continued his musical magic, creating a perfect vibe for mingling and easy chit-chat among guests, as a delightful array of delectable canapes, from chicken satay pinchitos to tostaditas with blackened sea bream was offered around.

Wedding Breakfast with a Spanish Flair – Paella and Churros

As dusk settled, the dinner area became the stage for a Spanish feast where guests enjoyed tapas featuring Spanish cured hams, cheese, and chorizo tartlets. The highlight was a paella “show cooked” with seafood, chicken, chorizo, and a veggie option. The evening feast concluded on a sweet note with churros and chocolate—a delightful dessert that added a touch of Spanish charm to the night and cue for the partying to begin.

A Night of Celebration – From Speeches to Sax and Violin Duo

Following the all-important speeches, all the guests were invited to witness the couple’s first dance—a beautifully intimate moment. Afterwhich, DJ Steve Altman set the stage for a lively atmosphere, presiding over a dynamic 4-hour open bar and DJ set that was intertwined with an electric sax and violin duo performance.

A momentary pause in the revelry arrived for the cake cutting—which then served as late-night snack, ensuring the celebration continued well into the early hours. As the clock neared 2 am, the DJ played the last tunes, drawing the curtain on a day that had unfolded like a dream—a Spanish soiree filled with unforgettable moments.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Sophie and Ben for sharing their special day with us. On behalf of the Sunshine Weddings Team, we wish you a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and happiness.
